I have posted on several sites and the replies I get are all from afar. Where are the locals? I am always afraid of scams. Why else would someone say theyare interested when the live 1000 miles away? I am a young retiree. Stay busy. Been widowed 3 years now and would love to go out with someone other than the girls.

Hi, sunshine! You're very smart to watch out for scammers, as they are, much like dogsht, everywhere. lol. I just posted in a similar thread explaining that my mother went through a similar situation.

She was in her fifties when my father passed and she found a wonderful guy via the internet a couple of years later who's been a blessing to her and the rest of the family going on 12 years now. But he was from a couple states away, so good things can and do happen, just listen to your gut feeling and make sure!

Fortunately as people mature they tend to leave the games that plague my age group behind, so I'm pretty confident you'll be able to discern quite well! So sorry for your loss and best wishes for your search here. :-)
