Would you prefer listening to the music that's currently out now or old School?

Like the music before there was a school.
I stopped with new stuff back in the 90s. Heard songs here and there for different bands and performers which I don't care for. |

Old school for sure. It's got a flow to it, modern music is less flowing over you and more shooting at you.
You don't hear sounds like from Pink Floyd, Cream, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, or even the old heavy stuff like Black Sabbath or Iron Butterfly, anymore. And even the poorly recorded old 78 rpm blues record had more in it than modern pop, house, hiphop, rap, and whatever. I listen to a 'youth' radio station, and I feel the wealth of loss, that they listen to such recycled rubbish with hardly any originality to it. Borrowed beats and stolen lyrics chopped together with some profanity and poor language skills, does not add much to culture. The Holleys, Mamas and Papas, Moody Blues, Santana, Jethro Tull, so much good old music with lyrics you can understand (usually). Every radio station should have a musical history few hours to show the young ones how it was done, before sampling, and covering someone else's songs. After the 1990's music got pretty weak I think, apart from the odd good effort. My latest 'new' interest is: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, from Australia. |

I never thought about it. I just love music period. BUt if I had to choose, I am a person who enjoys more personal touches than technology provides. So, I prefer the music that had real voices(no auto tune), real instruments, and songs with lyrics that had real substance. So, I would choose old school. There are still some modern artists that have the old school sound though, like Bruno Mars for instance. So, I would include all music with an 'old school' sound, even if it is created by current artists.
