So I'm interested in why people do what they do. What is your motivation for getting up, going to work, and essentially living your life. Are you in pursuit of a goal? living for fun? God? Sports :)? Sometimes I have a hard time getting moving on things and I'm wondering how other people motivate themselves.

I'm sure family/kids will be a popular answer, but I'd love to hear others as well.

Your right, My kids, and my new grandaughter. Are why I go to work every day. And the fact that hopefully some day I can retire LOL.

I get up and go to work every day becaus there is always something diffrent that is going to happen. Weather its meeting new people or rediscovering old friends. I justlook at each day as a new adventure

What is my motivation. I would have to say my little one on the way is.

A pair of jumper cables
and some good strong coffee
is what motivates me.

To learn, to create, to think, to spend time with those who matter to me.

Family? Kids? Not for me; I have no interest in those things. My friends -- and one special person -- are enough for me.

as it stands right now the only reason i do what i do is to leave something for my son. he'll have money and a home and all that but i wan to leave him something he can cherish, look back on and say that was my dad, he was the best.

1. Opportunity to conquer the world. I'll help out the people too though.
2. Smell the Roses.
3. Thank God for my kids and watch them grow.
4. Success is sweet revenge for those that dissed me.
5. I can again support the breweries of the world. Yah!
6. So I can impress myself and others. Write a song.
7. Hash House Harriers. Funniest group of people on the planet.

This is especially funny if you think about the two (most common) ways "blow up" can be taken.

HUmm I get up and go to work cause someone has to pay the mortgage, utilities etc. unless someone will volunteer to do so then I will sit at home.

While yes family and friends are huge motivators for many. What drives that motivation and makes the heart race in anticipation and excitement?

Go back to when we were all 8 years old, we get up early, peek outside and it's snowing and we go racing down the hall yelling "it's snowing" dreaming about the snowball fights, biggest snowman on the block...that is passion and excitement for an 8 year old....

Spring forward to now... you roll out of bed, peek out the window...what is it that you see that brings forth that excitment for you? Is it snow?? LOL Is it someone special?? Do you focus on a goal for 10 years down the road?? All answers will be different as each one of us are...

Simple things for me, laughter, doing my thing on a creative level, a game of chess with my guy, he alone deserves his own thread on how he makes me feel .... but goals for me are important too and I keep a huge board in my room that I see everyday as a reminder what gets focused upon...amazing when I get to take down one down because I reached it... one comes off, another goes up... life does that, challenges us...

Like bathing daily though, that is a habit and motivation is great but unless you do it daily it will fall by the way side. So you got to stay motivated daily!
