Has any female travelled to UNITED ARAB EMIRATES alone or even living there? Please what are their DOs and DONTs for a female.

Congrats Nonny,

Since no female has responded here's my 2 cents.

To the best of my knowledge Emirates is like Qatar, where I lived - but more liberal and more expensive. All you have to worry about is the 'dress code' and with whom you associate in public space. From your profile pictures, I guess you know all about this already.

You may like to make a down payment on a house before you go to Emirates else you are likely to spend it all in the Malls, which is tempting because socially it will be a constrained life. The only cheap stuff is electronics - because there's no tax. Rest, including food stuff is expensive, because it's all imported; including milk.

There's also the 'sin life' - but it's limited to within hotels and hostesses.

Normally 4 years in Emirates is all it takes to buy a modest house in US.
That's the best part.

Good luck.

One month! You may be running out of time.

Reminders:
They say US Driver's License is valid in Dubai but if you can convert it to international DL it will help. Also check if it is Left hand drive.

Bank Account: If you have time to open an account in HSBC / Standard Chartered
in US before you go - it will help.

I saw a lot of encouraging answers in Quora's website from residents there

You have access to internet. Find out what you have to wear when out and about as a woman, what is allowed and what not.
