Either way, it's a bad way to go. I can't imagine how the parents of the eight or nine children who died must be feeling.

It is why walls and borders make little difference to someone
determined to get out/in for a better life.

I agree but immigration does need to be controlled if only for the sake of knowing what services like Education etc are needed, especially here in the UK, where we have nearly seventy million people in an area smaller than the State of New York.

I know tis an issue in the UK, you are so small
with so many immigrants, but that has been your policy,
ya, to take them in?

To a large degree, yes. Mostly from the Commonwealth countries since the 1950's and quite a few million ethnic Indians (mostly Shia Islam and Hindus from Uganda) when Idi Amin expelled them in the 1970's. Since about 1997 it's been policy to allow lots of immigration with the specific purpose of diluting the indigenous population. Now, I don't care about ethnos but for social stability, you really need people who share your ethos like the Commonwealth immigrants do.

This is very true, it is why my parents came here. Perhaps not trashing countries economicaly and militarily would help people live better lives at home as well.

I am always amazed with the reports of them paying £30.000 to get here if the countries they come from are so poor, plus the old question why is the UK such a draw?

That is a remarkable amount of money, I agree. You would think almost any European Country would be acceptable but it seems that this is the destination of choice for many. Perhaps this is a better choice than many, not least because it still has a better reputation for tolerance than most.
