It is really hard to hear about. Our evening horizon in New Zealand is haze and we are 1200 km away from Australia. Imagine what it is like for them? 1/3 of the koalas have burnt too, amongst other wildlife.
It all stems from unknowledgeable people insisting the indigenous Aborigine stop their 'burn offs'. People who knew what they were doing.
The firemen are heroes, overworked, dying too.
It simply breaks my heart :broken_heart:

There are fire fighters from Idaho in the US that went to Australia to help with the fires.

It really is that serious. Thank you Idaho and any others that are helping :rose:

I was thinking about that, what the Aboriginals do to prevent this sort of thing from happening. They know the land, white people don't although they like to think they own the place. White people will never be as connected to a land that wasn't theirs in the same way as the Aboriginals, and I think it's the same with American Indians.

I did not know, however, it had to do with them stopping the Aboriginals from doing the burn offs. Stupid idiots, have they learnt nothing? All these animals dying because people are arrogant. Really sad...

Yes, ironically I heard that it was the Greens who stopped the burn off and cutting down of undergrowth, in the mistaken belief that people don't need to manage the landscape and haven't been doing so for thousands of years.
We had the same thing here with the Norfolk Broads thirty or forty years ago. A group of no doubt well-meaning "eco-enthusiasts" banned all traditional human activity (reed cutting for thatch etc) on the Broads. Within a few years, the Broads were drying out and dying. The only thing that saved them was allowing people to continue with their traditional activities.
It turns out that most of the "natural" landscapes we see were created and maintained by people over thousands of years and if we are to continue enjoying and using them, they need people to maintain them.

Absolutely, but in the way the old people did, NOT how new generations think it should be done, based on their FU scientific 'wisdom'.
Science is needed for some things, but it has gotten way too much influence over our planet and our lives. If it would be balanced with wisdom -which is knowledge from ancestors and people who lived there first- it would probably be fine.

Yes, there's always someone who thinks they know better than anyone else, while understanding nothing. It's that kind of ignorance that gets us all in trouble.šŸ¤Æ

Thinking it's good I am home again. Tried to flatten a curb. Trust me, it don't work!
Put the car in 3th instead of 5th while doing 80 kms... Not healthy for my poor car!
I must say it drives me nuts to have to wear glasses, especially when driving. Never indoors. I don't look 'me' with it, I don't feel 'me' with it, plus it's frigging annoying.
I hope there will be a point where I can afford to have my eyes lasered again cos if this is what's next for the remainder of my life...

I wore glasses from about the age of fourteen. Then eventually I discovered disposable daily contact lenses. After I plucked up the nerve to actually use them (the first time it took me three hours of staring into the bathroom mirror giving myself a serious talking to) they were fantastic. Of course I can't really use them now because of the glaucoma treatment affecting and discolouring them. I would recommend giving them a try if you can.
