"The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback could have been sentenced up to five years by U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson. Vick, who turned himself in Nov. 19 in anticipation of his sentence, was wearing a black-and-white striped prison suit."

"After Vick apologized to the court and his family, Hudson told him: "You need to apologize to the millions of young people who looked up to you.""

23 months hmmm... What do you guys think?

I think he got off easy. If it had been Joe Blow off the street, he would of gotten the full term sentence at least.

if it would have been joe blow

it would have been a 500$ fine

and 6 months suspended

and 1 year probation

would be my guess

He got a pretty stiff penalty considering what others got, like his co defendents. But he was the reason the whole thing happened, the other guys couldn't fund the operation, it was HIS operation so he is the major culprit. His money paid for everything the betting, the house, the equipment etc.

Also it doesn't help when you outright lie to the judge who's sentencing you or when you test positive for drugs after you're already in trouble with the courts.

All depends on where you live, I guess. I'm not going to argue about it. Everyone's entitled to their opinions.

Being that he lied and with held information. He is lucky.

Besides the point he won't spend 23months in prison! He will be out in less than 6months.

Geez hes not even in general population!

23 months is nothing.. he got off madd easy. plus being a 'celebrity' he'll get out a lot sooner then that.

i say he should of gotten 23 years. i'm so against animal cruelty.. if I was the judge his ass would of been crying and begging for forgiveness.. but if he wants sympathy and forgiveness he can go to a church. ugh. michael vick disgusts me.

Well I wouldn't expect in Gen. Pop. The ramifications if he was oh my. I don't think he be able to out run that defensive line. *Ouch* wouldn't be able to sit for weeks.

Swen and Jeanette Bergman, the owners of a commercial puppy kennel which ships hundreds of dogs to paying customers, were each charged with 21 counts of second-degree animal cruelty. Investigators claim that the Bergmans grossley mistreated more than 230 dogs.

The non-jury bench trial was tried before Judge Charles Baechler from June 16, 1997 to June 27, 1997. Swen and Jeanette Bergman were convicted of 16 out of the 27 misdemeanor charges. Judge Baechler originally sentenced Jeanette Bergman to a one-year jail sentence, which was later changed to a 9-month sentence. Swen Bergman was originally sentenced to nine months in jail. However, his sentence was suspended, and he was placed under three months house arrest. Both Bergmans also received various fines and were sentenced to an additional 720 hours of community service.

There is no parole in the federal system. He might receive time off for good behavoir, people are guessing he could be released in teh summer of 2009.

He got off way easy. I kow of a case down south where the guy running the show got 30 years for the dogs and another 10 years for injuring a property inspector with one of the traps that he (the dog owner) had around hid property---so 40 years!!! It's true you can look it up :). Vic lied, AND got busted doing drugs AFTER admitting the truth...so.....yeha he got off prety easy....

he and everyone else involved should get 10 years for each dog that was abused and/or died bc of the things they did.
