Topic: Business as usual will destroy the planet | |
---|---|
So how can the people on the streets change world cultures, despite politicians, bankers, and industrialists being hell bent on using up the Earth for their profit, as soon as possible.
How to get out of the trap of: need a job to pay house and bills, jobs pollute, pollution makes it harder to live and maintain conditions. Worse conditions deteriorates house or values, and health, so need more polluting work to afford to maintain good conditions. Loss of wild country to development to maintain population growth and profitability can't go on forever. Efficient broadacre farming can still only feed so many mouths. The world wide population growth pyramid schemes so profitable to governments and corporations will fail catastrophically. Apart from being a 'prepper', what social and cultural things can we do to steer ways of living away from continued mass extinctions and iminent disaster. To start with, bring back the triple bottom line: Financial Balance Social Balance Environmental Balance Make all lobbying fully disclosed in public, not behind closed doors. Don't tax penalize single people and childless families. Make having large families culturally 'excessive'. Make being a billionare culturally 'excessive'. Have environmental based public holidays. Put science into recycling everything in an environmentally friendly way. Start mining and cleaning up garbage dumps. Rehabilitate mines and waterways. Actually listen to what the native people of the region have to say, before you anhilate them for money. And then . . . and then . . . and then . . . |

Money is just a paper promise. There is nothing immoral about ratcheting as much money out of someone else as you can, except for the time wasted and the confusion created in the free market. It is not a material resource or like health, efficient performance, safety features, and wildlife. There’s nothing in moral about lighting it on fire.
Have a business model that uses money as a means to an end instead of an end in its self. Have the members vote on core values of essence, to determine how they should be prioritized and what kind of people should be reached to help serve. Get a liscense for a business named “Communists Incorporated”. Buy thousands of acres of land around the headquarters. Connect people to responsibilities where they have interest but no conflict of interest. Make there be no penalty for refusing to do something because of conflict of interest. Use a cashless economy based on the core values. Make enough money in the free market to pay for the taxes of the land. Deprioritize money and prioritize land. |

if you are unstable or a snowflake
STOP READING AND MOVE ON i have been listening to a guy on youtube for over a couple years now Guy McPherson 2016 he said we have about 10 years left on the world (ruff estimation)now this is not for every one cause there will still be pockets of life but you can be on the extinction list and be kept in a zoo (like we as humans have done with many species and failed to keep them from extinction ) if you are stable enough , ya should look him up Guy McPherson <shrug> sadly we are all programed for death but from what he has been talking about is habitat loss chain reaction to us human animals as well as well as the opening of more dead zones (interesting thing to research) and the push of problems with growing food in insain climates sadly i can see a lot of it how many lighting bugs do you see now each year ? i rememeber many years ago here in the yard , you could read a newspaper at night by the light this year , i think i have seen 5 this year , last year was about the same remember when it used to rain out side (very hard rain at a very short rate of time) all the worms in the ground would come out and say hello ... i have not seen that in many years i myself have not given up , cause i know us humans are very stubborn , and we norm do the best when we have to <shrug> but ya aint goen prep yourself out of this one est 10,000 to 100,000 years for the world to fix its self ... i figure a lot of leaders and rich people have bunkers built all ready with the "we can last through it in place" if ya listen to Guy McPherson ya can learn a lot of stuff , or at least i did the one i find interesting , is that if we stopped all pollution today ... did ya know that it would in turn, heat the planet up ... some of are pollution is keeping the bad stuff out ....its called global dimming ... we found out about that when the 911 sad stuff where they shut down air travel for what was it 5 days i think it was another one is i learned that salt water freezes at a colder temp ya heard the poles are getting ice back right ? yeah that's fresh water ice again research it remember the frog in the pot of water (back in school) if ya slowly turn the temp up the frog dont notice do what ya need to sadly this knowledge has been out there for a while this is the 4th or 6th reset , all depending on who ya ask my worries are how people are going to react with this knowledge a lot of people are not stable enough to even read most of this let alone let it sink in and hit home <shrug> or we could get a sun spot hit us and knock us all back to with out electric, with out satalights , etc etc etc wouldn't that be fun <face palm> Mount Everest could blow there top , and that would knock us in to an ice age so many ways to die , and most of us don't get to pick the way keep your head up while ya still breathen we ain't dead yet i guess growen up around the dead , death has never bothered me |

"Some" people in this world make a living keeping others in constant hysteria. It's sad that they are so successful.

The planet and 'the world' are not the same things.
The planet will continue even if the 'world' perishes. It takes a lot to destroy a planet. The world is the status quo that exists where human beings have domain over the planet. The world will end because human beings are stupid. Once human beings are extinct, the planet will recover rather quickly compared to planet relative time periods. |

We don't have to act like a mad man, saying "I'm going to wreck myself having fun, and I'm taking out as much life with me as I can". That is what is happening.
Obviously the planet continues when all is dead, but why destroy the living beauty of a world, for (temporarily) a bigger house and TV and car and stereo and mobile phone and the list of BS goes on. I'm talking not just : reduce, re-use, re-cycle, etc., but a mindset change with an entire culture change, of how we house, feed, 'work', 'recreate', and how we clean up after ourselves - eg. land fill garbage dumps, dumping at sea and in rivers, and air pollution. If you don't have to work for a rip off corporation or in a polluting factory to be housed, watered and fed, and didn't demand the type of services provided by rip off corporations, and polluting factories, the natural world (and us) would have a better chance of survival. |

Maybe we just need fewer lifetime helpless "victims" in the world. Or on the planet.

I am a fan of “leave no trace“. Train travel is a form of public transit that lets people experience vast expanses of wilderness in their business lives without displacing it or domesticating it, as would happen along highways. Backpacking as a form of travel is even more so, using the resources we have as an advanced civilization to adapt to nature rather than cultivate nature for us.
Nature does benefit people and is valuable in that regard, but it is intrinsically valuable in and of its self. If computers become more capable than humans in every way, then I do not think we should get rid of all the humans to make all space available for the computers. Computers are a valuable part of civilization still, though. People should not require much footprint on nature or on other people. I don’t care about footprint on money. Money has power just like propaganda or voting on values. It is a more peaceful game than war, but should be used primarily for establishing a place and keeping it secure. Internal affairs should be run by engineer teams, not business individuals. |

I want to know your critiques and insights for the purpose of preventing land from free social force destruction. I have nothing against free business, but there is real danger in it that needs to be understood and fortified against.

If you are a modern human being your very act of being alive is an assault on the planet's pristine balance.
No matter what you do or how you live something is is being exploited to maintain your sense of self. "Save The Whales" Connections, interactions, cause and effect. There is a thinking where one understands that human beings are part of the living process of the planet. The fact that we are over-populated and consuming faster than producing may very well be a natural process of life. Nothing we have done in the whole 2 millon year history of our species has had any effect on the viability of the planet as a whole. We are but a temporary affliction that will correct itself before any real damage is done. We have been here 2 million years at best. Dinosaurs 600 million years? Most people that scream the world is ending are delusional. Take a pill, calm down and get a grip on reality. |

For some strange reason, people love to shout about everyone else, rather than make changes in their own lives. The one thing you CAN control is yourself. All of the shouters need to stop lecturing others and focus inward.

Not everyone is content to crap in their own nest just because everyone else is doing it.
Pills won't help you, or rose coloured glasses. Reverence to nature instead of to imaginary invisible magical friends and money would be a good start. Not having to rely on a job making or selling garbage to others in order to survive. Real communities, instead of retail catchments. Put value in preserving nature, not destroying it for materials and population growth. It cant be that difficult to do; it's just up to if you (us all) give a rats ... or not about leaving the planet messier than when we arrived. Intergenerational equity. Time for my pills and foil hat now ! |

Utopian harmony is attainable but at too high of a price for most people.
Do away with wealth. No money, no possessions. No power, no motivation. In a SHTF scenario where everything is rendered moot and survival and continuing is the goal, priorities will change. They won't change right away tho, it takes time. One SHTF scenario we like to play is the removal of the power grid. Try to imagine if electricity no longer worked. Not your house, your car, or any electricity anywhere. Even batteries went dead. What would you do in a world without power? Those pumps that pump fesh water, gone. Cars, gone. Your phone, gone. Anything that requires electricity, gone. Try to imagine that world. Then, look at you life as it is right now. How dependent are you on electricity? What would you do, could you survive? There is such a thing known as an EMP. An Electromagnetic Pulse. If we detsroy the magnetosphere or weaken it enough, a solar storm could create a global EMP condition. Add to that a weakened ozone that allows ultravilolet rays thru our atmosphere and you will need some serious sunblock to just go outside. So now, you live in the dark, underground, only going outside at night. But the atmosphere is tainted so no you have to wear breathing gear and live inside chanbers of atmosphere. And fotget aboy eating the foods you currently enjoy. Those animals are dead along with the crops that give you the grains. But there is no electricity so there is no way to mass produce anything so, chances are, everything will be hard to get. That isn't the threat. Its a scenario for doomsday preppers. The REAL threat is the fact that there are more people being born than dying. Our population balance is off-kilter. That is the real, LOOMING threat that all face in reality. So go ahead, be oblivious. You'll die off soon enough. |

Not every scenario is Hollywood grade mayhem, but most are.
Horse power, ox power, man power (less unemployment), solar LED lighting, labour intensive farming, natural textiles, and cottage industries again, with restrictions on publicly available synthetic materials. Rooftop farming, balcony farming, and community farms; public kitchens and markets. Old style coopered wooden buckets. More field workers means more rednecks - yeehaa !! Sailing ships, hemp rope, cannabis (canvas) sails, wood planks, salty sailors. Make as much equipment and materials as possible organic, so most 'rubbish' can be composted, and anything illegally dumped is likely harmless organics anyway. No importing new garbage and exporting old garbage. Few trucks, 'muscle cars', and luxury cars on the roads, more small practical frugal vehicles. Solar powered public housing for all homeless; and solar powered public transport buses and light rail. With less and lighter vehicles, some roadways and bridges can support solar panels. Imagine the 'cleanliness' of a pre- Victorian mechanised steam age world, (no steam punk), but with modern improvements like sanitation, and modern health care, and less opulent pastimes for the masses, like Grands Prix, super yachts and aeroplane racing. Yes I realise mining and logging etc., for raw materials continues, but all much more monitored and guided and controlled for best environmental outcomes. Have a fairer 'pay' structure so health specialists like doctors and hospitals and dentists are more affordable, and so called 'elites' (politicians, advisors, consultants, bankers, lawyers, CEO's etc.) can't grant themselves obscene salaries and bonuses and perks. Investors can only invest in 'opportunities' within 10 miles of where they live/reside, so they can see what they are doing to their own local community with their investment project. And so the community can see them. Let the current wrong systems run down and have alternatives to switch over to, so everything continues in a slower less energy consuming and polluting way. Casual labour systems for public works, farming, labouring, etc. where anyone can do a safe day's work somewhere and get paid for it. More agriculture, animal husbandry, horses, tannery products, backyard chickens, rain water tanks, solar hot water systems, hand washing, and clotheslines. Not forgetting heaps of automatic weapons for when the alien zombie army comes through, Devo type Orgone energy reflecting hats, huge boats for the next flood, and man sized kleenex for the second coming. |

Commendable understanding.
The main issue is not the power or the waste, there will always be waste. The main issue is there are more people being born than are dying. We are proliferating our own extinction and most people, ... most people, have no idea. 90% or so of the world's current problems exist due to population. Why is bread the price it is? Why is healthcare so limited? Why do most of us bust our hineys off all our lives just to survive? Too many people. Think about how things would be if there were half the people in any given economic niche. The power requirements, the resources, the job availability, the health care availability. The ... lines. So many people are so focused on the immediate personal future, they fail to see the damage being done by the shear presence of so many of us. But... human life is sacred right? How sacred is human life in mainland China? A billion people, priorities change. What happens when all the cities of the world reach a billion people? How sacred will human life be then? Its coming. Its happening faster than many believe and even more are aware. Its already past the tipping point. You wanna fix the world, get the human population under control. |
