Actually, Yes...It "is" all in their head.
The "Why" is purely personal.
But, not "all" men desire women they can't have.

Lets look at this a different way.
Men might be looking for certain traits and when they see a woman that possess all those traits in spades, they try to get a relationship started with that particular woman.

However, A relationship requires "both" parties to feel similar.
When that doesn't happen, 'some' men can't let go.
Then you end up with what I_love_bluegrass describes.


Pretty much the same thing as above.
He possess the traits the woman desires but when he says no, she still desires the traits of that man.

Thanks I appreciate your responses, even if you don't agree with a topic/thread you Respond with sincerity. Many men cannot even do that. I see you as a good communicator.

With regards to dating, I don't agree that men desire women they cannot have, anymore than women want men whom are not interested in them. Most people looking for a partner, don't dwell on the thought of someone that is not interested in them, in my opinion they move on to find someone who is interested. To continue to desire someone you cannot have is probably caused by lust.

People have desires.
People do what they believe will fulfill those desires.
"Desire" includes everything from gaining something, prevention of losing something, or maintaining a status quo.

No matter what someone does, they are getting something they want out of it.
Most to all times people don't realize what it is they are truly getting or what they really want, they only understand a small fraction.

A desire can trigger an emotional response that influences behavior.
But just as easily a behavior, and/or an emotional response can trigger desire. It's all connected and influences each other.


Everything is all in everyone's head.
If everyone was all in each others head, soon everyone would get lost and scared not knowing who or where they were.


Because they're people.
It's not a gender thing.



It helps to have a specific example about a specific person.
