step one see if it has a manual defrost button. if not, all food into the coolers and out on the porch. then turn off the whole thing and leave the door open . ps try not to let the melting ice flood the kitchen lol.
as for the temp setting typically the higher the number the colder it is. |

You will have 2 sets of controls, Freezer and Refrigerator; each operates independently of the other (though if you turn off just one the other might have to work harder in general) so you should empty and turn off the Freezer (or lowest possible setting) when ready to defrost..might take a few days for the ice to start melting. Higher markings mean colder temperatures..lower markings mean warmer temperatures. What I would do is, look up the manufacturer online, they always have their manuals there (usually PDFfiles) and see what they have to say ;-) |

I keep Ice bags in the freezer for when we had a lot of power outages lost a lot of food ... at this point i should just try an clean out the food ... all very frosty anyway lmao

if it is frosty not icey you can scrape out the worst of it with a plastic spatula first.
i have even used a hair drier to melt it faster |

Ahh I thought you indicated the Freezer controls were in the
Refrigerator along with the Refrigerator controls. So if they are both on one dial, I would suppose that the Freezer gets colder if the Refrigerator gets colder and vice-versa. Trick here is to defrost really fast, a hair-dryer works better than a chisel..but it looks like you have to suffer the Refrigerator drop in temperature to Defrost! |
