Tax cuts help small business. I have a friend who works on planes for people who make big $$ working for big business. I have a friend with a small trucking company who hauls for small or large business.
Lots of people work for big business while starting their own business. I'll be working overtime tomorrow and then working on rental property this weekend. My job at big business is providing the funding for materials for remodeling and to hire someone if I need help. I have a friend who work for big business during the week and handyman in the evenings and weekends. |

TRUMP’S TAX CUTS DIDN’T BENEFIT U.S. WORKERS, MADE RICH COMPANIES RICHER, ANALYSIS FINDS President Donald Trump’s corporate tax cuts might not have trickled down to American workers in the way that he suggested they would. In part, But a new analysis of all Fortune 500 companies found only 4.3 percent of workers will receive a one-time bonus or wage increase tied to the business tax cuts, while businesses received nine times more in cuts than what they passed on to their workers, according to Americans for Tax Fairness, a political advocacy group devoted to tax reform. The analysis also found that companies spent 37 times as much on stock buybacks than they did on bonuses and increased wages for workers. Yes, tax cuts do benefit small businesses - the problem is that the biggest tax cuts have gone to big businesses who don't necessary need the tax cuts and are not passing the money down to their employees. I think thats' the point the op was trying to make. The majority of the "big businesses" are making huge profits because the manufacturing is being done abroad where they can get cheap labor. Why do you think there's a decline in manufacturing in this country and many the big factories have closed? The bottom line is that a lot of these big businesses are just greedy, pure snd simple. If they weren't they'd be passing along the $ they've saved to their workers. |

I just scanned through this entire topic, and I notice one thing that no one has brought. So, I'd like to get all of your opinions on it. Do you think our economic policies might focus too much on big business rather than building up small businesses? I mean, think about it on all levels -- local, state, and federal. What builds the most stable economy? Don't policies that focus on big business "place all eggs in one basket", so to speak? What happened to creating a more diversified economy in the wake of the Cold War and the reduction in defense contracts? Does Trump's tax bill do anything to help promote small businesses, the businesses which actually build a more stable economy and tax base from the local level and up? Or are we just going to continue heading down the path of looking to big business to create all jobs, services, and tax revenues? Of course we are with someone like Trump in office the biggest tax cuts have gone to the biggest and most profitable companies. - now how on earth does that profit the average worker? With Trump in office the richer are only going to get richer and the poor are going to get poorer - off topic, but I'd like to know whatever happened to the Sherman Anti Trust Laws?! |

Manufacturing went to other countries because of nafta. Manufacturing is coming back because of tax cuts. I'm at work now and I had my 40 hours in yesterday. Hiring signs everywhere. It is being passed down. People just have to go out and get it. You won't get a piece of the pie sitting home on your sofa. People who pay the most taxes get the biggest tax cut. People who don't pay taxes at all got nothing. Except a job if they want it.

Manufacturing left loooong before NAFTA. It's called "deindustrialization", and it began around 1967.
My dad was in board rooms where it was all discussed back in the 1960s. He was involved with building The World Trade Center and designing the communications system for Air Force One. He turned down a position with GTE after designing and building the revolving presentations room at GTE World HQ. What he told me about those meetings he was in -- all around the country, not just in the places I mentioned -- were very insightful. My studies as a History major actually confirmed much of what he told me about the business and politics concerning deindustrialization and the official abandonment of the gold standard. And -- my dad was a life-long Republican who toward the end of his life had become very disillusioned with what they've become. |

Manufacturing will always exist. It just depends on which country keeps power. Go get a job.

Manufacturing will always exist. It just depends on which country keeps power. Go get a job. I'm not really responding to this per se. Just wanted to let you know, that the way I worded my previous response might have come across a bit more aggressive than I actually intended. I was thinking about that before I even noticed the new post. But I do agree that we need to bring manufacturing back. I also acknowledge that some of it has been doing just that. It's going to take time. Many people just are impatient, and want a quick fix. That's not going to happen. But it can happen over time, like it has been. NAFTA was a mistake. It's one issue where I vehemently disagreed with Bill Clinton. There's another big one too, but I would have to look up the name of the Act. That second one actually had a lot to do with the housing bubble and the bank collapse. And it got pushed through during the Clinton Admin. Personally, I favor tariffs. I just understand that the situation is more complicated than most people realize. But to get back on topic... I do question how significant the tax cuts really are when it comes to small businesses. That's because with so much of the economy dependent upon services, food, and retail, witnessing a shift towards bigger business in these areas has a major impact on local economies. For instance, Stop & Shop used to be a regional supermarket brand. Now it's part of an international Dutch conglomerate. It pays low wages. It tends to only hire part-time. It is a Union shop, but most employees receive very little benefit or representation from the Union despite having to pay union dues from their meager paychecks. As a result, the brand has suffered for it. The store is no longer as good as it once was. I refuse to shop there because other stores are better in price, service, and quality....and those other stores are sometimes still regional rather than national or international brands. But even those regional brands keep expanding, building bigger stores, and get bought up by larger brands, all the while forcing smaller local supermarkets out. Thus more and more stores are paying lower wages, have higher staff turnover, and sending more cash and revenue out of the local area, region, and increasingly out of the country. It's the same thing happening with pharmacies, bookstores, hardware stores, electronics stores, healthcare, restaurants, and more. It's even happened with the food vendors (that supply the restaurants) and electrical supply chains. It's far-reaching here which is why many municipalities are struggling with their budgets. Small local businesses tend to keep more money inside the local economy rather than sending it elsewhere to some corporate HQ in another country or state. They may have some dependence on bigger businesses, such as for goods, but local businesses tend to reinvest their profits at a local level rather than abroad. |

Trump’s Tax Cut Was Supposed to Change Corporate Behavior. Here’s What Happened.
"Nearly a year after the tax cut, economic growth has accelerated. Wage growth has not. Companies are buying back stock and business investment is a mixed bag. The $1.5 trillion tax overhaul that President Trump signed into law late last year has already given the American economy a jolt, at least temporarily. It has fattened the paychecks of most American workers, padded the profits of large corporations and sped economic growth. Those results weren’t a surprise. Economists across the ideological spectrum predicted the new law would fuel consumer spending, in classic fashion: When the government borrows money and dumps it into the economy, growth tends to accelerate. But Republicans did not sell the law as a sugar-high stimulus. They sold it as a refashioning of the incentives in the American economy — one that would unleash more investment, better efficiency and higher wages, along with enough growth to offset any revenue lost to the government from lower tax rates. Ten months after the law took effect, that promised “supply-side” bump is harder to find than the sugar-high stimulus. It’s still early, but here’s what the numbers tell us so far:". http://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/12/business/economy/trumps-tax-cut-was-supposed-to-change-corporate-behavior-heres-what-happened.html |

Democrats Control the House — Will Your Taxes Change Again?
"Many consider the 2017 tax overhaul to be the crowning achievement of Donald Trump’s presidency. But according to midterm election exit polls, Americans aren’t seeing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act translate to cash in their pockets. Despite winning control of the House, Democrats cannot fully rewrite the law until it sunsets in 2025. After the 2018 midterm elections, Democrats once again hold the House of Representatives. With the change of leadership comes talk about modifying the signature piece of legislation to come from the House under Republican rule: The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The main champion of the tax bill in the House, Speaker Paul Ryan, said it was “designed to be a middle-class tax cut.” A year later, that hasn’t proven to be the case. Midterm exit poll analysis showed 45 percent of voters haven’t felt any effect from the bill and 23 percent have been hurt by the legislation. Only 28 percent said the tax cuts have been a welcomed boost. Now that Democrats control the House, what can voters expect to happen to their tax situation?". http://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/democrats-control-house-taxes-change-190930959.html |

I've seen how dems do tax cuts. They take away deductions that hurt small businesses. "Tax the Wealthy!" is their battle cry. So how come I see more taxes when they do it? 25K a year doesn't put me in the 1% bracket. Yet I see them trying to take more of my money away from me.
A not so smart friend of mine told me this 20+ years ago- If you believe that you'll be robbed, you were once a robber. If you claim others lie, You are a liar also. Since he told me that, I started watching others. It's quite shocking how true that is. 40 years of me watching dems lie, is no selling point of their party. So, keep it up. You're living up to the rich tradition of the democrats. |

Don't worry. taxes will go UP. People must understand that the majority of Dems want socialism. This is how it works, first you have capitalism (now) then socialism (coming soon with Dems) and finally Communism. Remember Communism around the world? we are headed there. You don't have to believe me... study history. Look at the many socialist countries in the world and where they are going. Good Old Communist Countries. Step right up ladies & gentlemen, this is what you voted for. |

People who pay the most taxes get the biggest tax cut. People who don't pay taxes at all got nothing. Except a job if they want it. Agree 100%. That seem to be difficult for some to understand. Strangely enough people that don't pay that much tax... But what to do with people with disabilities and other health issues? Those who cannot work? I think we should help people that really tries but still can't work enough to feed them selves or their family. But they have to try hard. Not sitting down and feel sorry for them selves. What you think? |

Step right up ladies & gentlemen, this is what you voted for. You're totally right. Please don't go into that same trap as we Scandinavians has done. Socialism has destroyed every will to innovate and create business. All we do is export fish and oil. Have you ever heard about any Norwegian products? Not so many. We already pay 30% salary tax. Add to that 25% VAT on everything you buy. A car cost 50% - 100% more than most other countries. Do you watch TV? Then pay tax for that also (yes, believe it or not!) I can go on and on... please don't listen to Bernie and all the other "communists". |

The Trump tax cuts are putting America in a hole
"Tax cuts and a slowing economy will erode America’s fiscal strength during the next decade, according to a new report from Moody’s Investor Service, the bond-rating agency. At some point, Moody’s might cut the nation’s top-tier credit rating". http://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-tax-cuts-putting-america-203051912.html Trump's rooky mistake with the economy could burn him in 2020 "It seems that Donald Trump has made a rookie mistake on the economy. While US presidents don’t always have control over business cycles, there is one hard and fast rule: Don’t stimulate the economy too early, because economic growth is likely to fade right at the time you are seeking re-election. Trump appeared so excited — and maybe surprised — to get elected that he went all out with a tax-reform policy that boosted the economy during his second year in office. The economy now seems to be weakening despite the government’s largesse to taxpayers. And there is widespread talk of a recession right about the time Trump will be seeking re-election". http://nypost.com/2018/12/12/donald-trumps-rookie-mistake-could-lead-us-to-a-recession/ 2019 Will Be A Tough Year For Trump And His Economy "Let’s face it, the President of the United States will be Silvio Berlusconi’d in 2019. With the House now in control of his enemies, this year could be Trump’s swan song. The House Democrats have the Special Counsel investigation on their side. And if Robert Mueller’s initial Russia investigation turns up zilch on Russian collusion to kick Hillary Clinton to the curb in favor of The Donald, then—like the Italians did to Berlusconi—they will investigate and subpoena Trump till Kingdom Come. Indeed, many top Democrats like California Representative Adam Schiff have already promised to do so". http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2018/12/11/2019-will-be-a-tough-year-for-trump-and-his-economy/#5a3b69f919ac |

Of course. Since I haven't seen the new tax forms, it remains to be seen what they may look like. Those who complain the most, I'm assuming that they take the mortgage deduction. And there are those who depend on the healthcare supplement. That was never permanent, it was supposed to end next year. I've read several articles about tax reform, some good, some bad. How can you tell what's good/bad until you see your forms, and see how it all pans out?
What it boils down to, is those who insist that the rich in this country are getting all of the breaks, are really mad that they aren't rich themselves. I found it's better to concentrate on me, and let the rich do the same. |
