Topic: High libido with no testosterone in my blood?!

I have a very high libido but I have immeasurably low testosterone, lower than what naturally born females have.
My estrogen is high though.
I wonder how it is possible that I have such a high libido.
I was always told you need a tiny little bit of testosterone to maintain a libido ( that’s why they prescribe it to menopausal women ). Strange that I have such a high libido with literally no testosterone in me.
I also never feel tired. I have lots of energy. While I was told that no testosterone would equal no zest for life. That is totally not the case with me. I have a huge joy for life and like I said a very high libido without any testosterone.

Can estrogen on itself create a libido this high?

Is it possible to trigger yourself mentally into always being aroused?
That the mind is turning on the body regardless of hormones, is that possible?

I’m appearently a strange case.

My libido is feminine though so I guess that’s the estrogen ( whole body orgasms ). But I still wonder how it’s possible to have a libido without any testosterone when doctors claim that testosterone is the cause of libido.

Anyone an idea how libido without testosterone is possible?

Maybe you're a reincarnation of caligula or someone with a really high sexual appetite and put in a female body.

Hello miss Elissa ... libido is complicated .. it can definitely be affected by hormonal, psychological and social influences .. although testosterone and estrogen are the main sex hormones there are other hormones that come into play . For example our mood hormones dopamine and serotonin.. those with depression often suffer a low libido .

It is also said that men have more testosterone production when they are around ovulating women ...(polygamous males generally have the highest libidos) . women generally have a higher libido during ovulation .. so the hormonal cycyle itself can influence levels in the body .. seldom are they static ., levels of cortisol which is s primary hormone can also come into play with production of other hormones .

Likewise , for men .... testosterone levels can increase or decrease depending on the frequency they have sex and how often they orgasm .

.
I am not sure what your current hormone therapy is elissa but you seem very positive, happy and confident about your transition to a woman perhaps that is motivation enough for your libido to go into hyperdrive.

Addit .....Testosterone replacement in menopausal women is still controversial . It is true women do have a very small amount of natural testosterone but progesterone and oestrogen are the primary female hormones that influence female libido . With ageing it is not just our sex hormone production that diminishes .. our cortisol levels and production of pituitary hormones responsible for every function in the body diminish .

Hi Blondey,
I always like your wise insight :)

I’m currently on Estradiol administered through injections. Perhaps the high levels of estrogen caused by injections have something to do with my high libido as well.
I took progesterone in the past. It made me sleepy. Helped a lot with breast development though.

My cortisol and DHEA levels are always very low, my testosterone is basically non existentent.
My FSH and LH ( thyroid hormones ) are completely suppressed.
I’m basically flooded with estrogen :)

I have always had a creative mind and a creative mindset. Maybe that has something to do with it as well. Not sure.

I can easily get aroused although orgasming takes a lot of build up work.
It’s also whole body waves now instead of just locally, so the female orgasms are present.

It’s usually around periods where my boobs get tender and my areolae swell that my sex drive goes in overdrive.

I still have male reproductive organs which might also affect how my nerves in the genitals respond to estrogen.

I also read somewhere that a small portion of women don’t need testosterone to stimulate sex-drive. That estrogen is enough for a happy few. I might be one of those happy few. Since my brain structure as a trans woman is feminine.

It’s still a mystery though why my sex drive is so high.

Even at menopausal levels for both sex hormones ( testosterone and estrogen ) my sex drive was still very high.

I wonder if some people can get aroused, independent of their hormone levels?

Or maybe it is the fact that I feel more comfortable in my body now.

I’m a bit worried about high sex drive. I once read somewhere that it can stimulate levels of prolactin going in overdrive when you orgasm too often.
I really worry about it.
High prolactin can cause blindness.
So orgasming too often could in theory also cause blindness then if that study about orgasming and prolactin was right :-/

Thanks for your insight,
Elissa.

I have no basis for insight personally or by example from others.
What I might contribute is just basic reasoning.

Perhaps your levels are a bit off kilter because you are still in a transitioning phase? Your body just might need some time to adjust to the changes. It might be ramped up into overdrive right now.

I don't know the details of your change, only you and your doctor do.
I would consult your doctor who probably has real-world experience with others in your situation. He/she might know better than random people on a dating site. Might be able to enlighten you on what to expect as time progresses.

You might also look for forum sites populated by others who have made or are making a similar change. They may have some real-world insight for you to consider as well.

There also might be certain side-effects unique to your body's chemistry.
Not all side-effects are negative.

I hope you find your answers.

My blood levels are all in the female range.
I’m transitioning since more than 3 years so I’m considered transitioned by my doctors.

Thought I would just ask others’ experience about high libido :)

can you post the link to the study Elissa .. most cases of vision disturbance with high levels of prolactin is the result of a pituitary rumour which presses on the optical nerve ., have not heard of frequent orgasm resulting in blindness . Though I now wonder where that old saying originated from laugh prolactin levels are high during pregnancy without any associated blindness . It is an important lactation hormone again dopamine has an important role in its production . Any mood medication or beta blocker (heart medication ) can potentially effect dopamine levels and thus dependent hormones .

That said it is healthy to orgasm .. oxytocin flooding is an important consequencelove

Hi Blondey,

I will look for the link, don’t have it by hand right now.

Blondey, since you are so familiar with natural and traditional medicinal remedies, could you give me some advice about the herb “ Chaste berry / Vitex / Agnus Castus “ ?

Some studies say it helps lower testosterone, others say it elevates it.
It’s often used by women with PMS symptoms and post-menopause women because it balances hormones.
The monks used it to control sexual urges.

Some studies say it lowers testosterone, others say it can raise it.

I have some Vitex at home ( over 120 caps ) but I am not taking them before I have a bit more clarity.
While my testosterone is already immeasurably low, I want to nuke that last bit as well and nuke DHT as well ( to make my hair fuller ).
Could Vitex be of help for me?
Thanks,
Elissa
Xx

it targets primarily prolactin and progesterone production . ( increases progesterone ...decreases prolactin and oestrogen ) The studies I have seen Suggest it is not recommended to use with any other hormone therapy ...will check my medical database for you for any recent scientific studies and get back to you :-)

Maybe it’s the vitamins.
I hadn’t thought about the fact that vitamins can raise libido yet.
I drink a lot of fruit drinks and vitaminized drinks.
Do you take multivitamins or you take them separately?
I also heard coffee can raise the libido but don’t know if that’s true.

Wahahaha :’-D
Your libido is higher in summer because of vitamin D . So if you want to keep it high during winter, vitamin D might help to warm the turtle up ;-)
