anxiety or ocd ( Obessive Compulsive disorder )

I don't care to speak or rather talk much about it but yes I have an axiety disorder & OCD, I've taken meds in the pass but didn't work for me, I've talked to doctors until my medial coverage run out or could no longer see that doctor etc.

The biggest problem was or is last nice I had an attack and I'm still trying to get over it.

I mean it's slowly going away but not all the way gone.

On a side note I've been lucky enough to be able to control my own anxiety with out any help for some time now and although it's though because I could use some one to speak to easy the anxiety but I've been pretty good at just making it by.

Any advice on how to over come or control anxiety.

Thanks inadvice.

I know a few people with anxieties. They take meds and sometimes go to counselors. One is always doing a slow, heavy sigh for relaxation. That one has taken relaxation classes.

OCD - I know there a meds for that. There are also in-pt. therapies.

There are sliding fee counselors.

Hope you feel better. Would going for a walk today help any?

Over time yes! I've been on them since I was 18. Depending on the dosage and duration of time you are on them...

Yeah I really can't go to any counselors because my healthcoverage doesn't cover it crazy but true.

And surely I know there are meds for OCD but I've been pretty lucky to be able to control everything up to my anxiety.

Not sure if going for a walk would help me out or not.

Kinda bother-some when I get something that triggers my ocd and I can some what control it but can't make the feeling go to far away, maybe it will in a while.. not sure.

I think next time it will be best if some one ask me to do something that might tigger my ocd, I just tell them sorry I can't and if that isn't good enough then I'll have to see what else I can do.

I used to get panic attacks. They made me feel like I couldnt breathe, I would even go to the emergency room to be looked at.Im glad to say I dont really get them anymore. I found you can use your mind to overcome them. Its very possible to think them away.Take your mind off the attack and think of something positive. Hope this helps...Rob

It's ok... everything is going to be alright.

Don't think about negatives, think about positives, it does sound impossible, but it can be done.

For example, instead of think "What if I have an anxiety attack?", think "It's alright if I have an attack."

Although anxiety and depression are different, treatment for both is sometimes the same, some have claimed that tapping can help with with depression, I think it could also help in anxiety as well, if it works at all. I haven't tried this technique, but you can learn about it at http://www.tapping.com/

I was reading a really good site about this the other night, but I lost the address, if I find it, I'll post it.

Lamaze breathing always helps me. That and mentally talking myself through it.

Walks - relaxing, fresh air, endorphins, look at things outside of yourself - then we don't look inward so much.

My friend that has bad anxieties usually goes for walks. He goes around the block again and again until he feels better. And he repeats the serenity prayer over and over. It helps him.

Just an idea!

Dude I have done meds off/on for anxiety and depression for 9 years. Been off now for a year. Lots of prayer and meditation and physical exercise. Having others to talk to helps alot too. Sometimes I think I would like to go back on them right now with my divorce and all, but I really to be awake for this. Too much to learn.

Well I do get a lot of physical exercise in on a daily basic because of the job I have.

I guess I could also try praying a bit more.

But yeah as I've previely had said I've been on meds before on and off and they simply do not work for me, in fact two different times I ended up in the ER because of a bad reaction I had with two different kinds I was on, so after the second time or so I said I'm never ever going on them again because I wasn't getting the right care when I was on them. That and they simply was not working for me, so maybe for some people meds work and maybe for others they don't.

ahhhhh.....I agree with everyone here
Slow deep breaths, relaxing techniques...try to get your mind to think in another place. I have a very stressful job ...a lot of my time is spent at a deskphone working to beat a deadline..I can grow very nervouse and almost sick feeling when I am behind ...I have found though ... random doodling, as I talk relaxes me!
Sometimes by the end of the day there are many pictures of people, animals, spirals, fancy names & words scribbled all over paper on my desk ....laugh
