Meet and greets for the first time depending on weather casual , I tend to meet more business professionals usually after work so sometimes in business attire.

First dates, depends on where we are going

bottom line is clothing is clean, dont have the I dont know what hygiene is look.

Like Aroundtheworld said, I dress as myself. I'm not going to be a fake person.

So what does that mean? You don't dress up? You feel if you do wear something nice you are faking it?

For me, "dressing up" is dressing at a higher level of fashion than I normally do.
I do dress "up" for some dates but usually only after we are in an established relationship and only for those extra special dates where excess is warranted. Like weddings, funerals (I don't really go to funerals tho), celebrations and planned 'nights on the town'.
I do not wear ties, it feels like I'm being choked. I don't wear suits because I don't like how they feel but I do have fashionable clothing (and jewelry) that I will wear when trying to be "dressed up".

For the most part, I dress comfortable and practical.
I see dates important to the activities we do together rather than how we look while doing them.

Wow . I havent been here in a million years. Hi everyone! I understand why many people would want to dress comfortably but I would want to.create the best first impression with my clothing ,according to the requirements of the location my date chose. I dont consider it to be putting on a show... just being my best , even if it means my best jeans and tank top if the event called for it.

Depends where we’re going.

If it’s a coffee or lunch then jeans and nice T-shirt.

If Dinner at a nice restaurant then smart shirt and trousers.

Suits for me are for weddings, funerals and functions that no one wants to attend anyway

Hang about... a smart shirt, a bit unbuttoned -no tie-, and a nice suit can be incredibly smexy! love
Ain't that something, coming from a woman who's not really an I-love-men-in-suit kinda girl, hihi.

How do you dress on a 1st date/meet?

Generally speaking, as nice as I can, that makes me look and feel as good as I can, within the boundaries of judgement, taste, time frame, activity/intent/location, feelings engendered by the prospect of dating her, and comparison to her/what I know about her, and each variable varies in importance depending on other factors.

In this hot weather make-up quickly becomes sticky and messy so I try to exfoliate and moisturize a bit more often and leave the make-up out of it.
For the rest, in this summer weather, just a low cut out top and a tiny skirt that accentuates the legs and big silver earrings with gemstones, to give it that badass touch.

In the past, I dressed very well.

I am now going to start dressing like I am very poor, and with no makeup and ratty hair, to see if they accept me for my personality/character/brains.

I like a lady to turn up in low heels and a dress or at least skirt and blouse with nylons on.
This hopefully would give me a clue that this lady can wear smart .

Normal initial first dates in person, are normally handled as impromptu as casual attired. As if you had just gotten off of work and on your way home.

These days, if you are not working, then you are either mooching off of someone, or you are filthy well off, living comfortably.

Reality for most of us is we are usually working, and have to make time to go on a date. Regardless of it being hanging out with friends, co-workers, or meeting up with some one later (What ever your motives may be).

When you're better acquainted you can plan ahead for a nicer "date" dressed for the occasion mutually agreed upon.

Going overboard like you did on your first prom, is overly pretentious, and leaves you open for potential dire consequences.
Such as in those occasions when Murphy's Law intervenes.

I wear jeans every single day. I'll put on a nice top and jeans. Why would I wear a dress? It's not me and I'll never wear it again.

I always dress to impress. I spend like five hours matching up my jeans with my dress shirts, socks, shoes, underwear......does this make my butt look big? Ugh! I just don't have anything to wear!laugh

Btw,..
I do not look good in a dress, or a frock.... Or a miniskirt, even though a few guys have comimented my legs being deliciously attractive. Back when I used to sun bathe regularly.
