Topic: Were you taught Darwinian Theory at school? | |

You know what? I keep trying to tell people nobody is right nor wrong and everybody still bickers like children... I am hated upon for being human not brothers in arms not even cared or looked after forced to live my life follow my dreams and heart... My cat has feelings and it looks to me for comfort and consideration in knowing me more than anybody... what I have to say does not even matter I am probably the only person in the world that is correct because every side simply must have it their way this issue or not it has to be the correct way cause someone else said so... and that's what you know not what you personally believe you're being fed like sheep to follow someone else's identity making you the same people that anything I have to say period is being argued amongst grown men that have no value or acceptance of another's way of life all of us is wrong and it's my way or the highway move out? And I am just walking away...

Yes, but it is ********.The Bible is right... It is not bullsh*t. The Bible canβt be used as an authority for every question we have. Otherwise we would end up in a system where law and religion influence each other. Like in the middle ages. We would go back to witch hunting. The Middle-East with the Sharia is a perfect example of this. right. religion IS the prob. if we use logic, reason and empirical fact, we would end up with a much better, more advanced, more compassionate and more helpful to everyone sort of civilization. |

Erm... religion doesn't equal care and love, it brings hate, discord, war, and so on. It keeps people away from love. If religion and its followers could remain open to other ideas and drop the need to convert others and not feel their religion is the only right way, it wouldn't cause so many problems. Then it's just personal choice to follow a religion or not. So far I've met one person in my entire life who was both religious and completely tolerant and loving of everyone, regardless of their beliefs. One of the most beautiful people I've ever met, but I've only ever met one... I've met plenty other beautiful open loving & caring people btw but those weren't religious. Religion means limitations and limitations is the opposite of love. People have the innate ability of love and care, so without religions there's a helluva lot more than logic, reason and so on. |

To answer the topic question, yes I was taught evolution at a Catholic School in the 1960s. Catholics accept evolution as a fact. It seems only some fundamentalist religions for some reason, do not accept it. They come up with ideas that simply do not match with reality.

It is unfortunate that the question of evolution stirs so many to extreme emotion.
Darwinian style evolution does not rule out the possibility of God or "Intelligent Design". To those who say "it's only a theory" and to those who say "it's proven". you are both somewhat right but wrong. Darwinian evolution (new species from old) has not been proven (we haven't been observing long enough for that) but the claim that it is "only" a theory ignores the huge amount of evidence that has been accumulated in it's favor. Converseley, the claims of Creationism and "Intelligent Design" are simply claims with no supporting evidence. There is certainly reason to doubt them. There are many examples of extremely poor "design" in living species. Would a truly INTELLIGENT designer make all those mistakes? |
