Good for her, I wish everyone would adopt her attitude for defending children. She shoud be acknowledged for her bravery.

and it was cheaper than shooting out a tire and having to replace it ...

sad for all involved.
I can tell you've never held a gun before... hitting a tire on a moving vehicle isn't something just anyone can do, it takes a great shot to be able to do... accuracy on a moving Target is not easy, because all practice is done on a still Target, there's a big difference between that and a Target sitting next to you in a car...

I'm sorry but where my children are involved I wouldn't take the risk he would get away with them in the vehicle. I know that most don't know what they would do in such a situation. I however think she did exactly what she needed to do in order to protect her children. Not everyone will agree I'm sure but I still say good for her.

Mom get's the gun, get's out of the running car, lands on her feet,
aims for the runaway tire ...

hit's the gas tank instead!!

if she can make a headshot, she could probably make the tire ...

Maybe the mom wasn't thinking straight , huh. !

Woman's car was being stolen by a man who got into it when she went into the gas station to pay.

How old were the kids?
Infants? She's leaving infant kids alone in the car, with the keys inside? Was it summer?
Famous last words in horror movies: "I'll be right back!" or "It'll just take one second!" and "they'll be fine!"

Are they old enough to walk around? And she left the keys in the car? I've read quite a few news articles where kids left in the car take it for a joy ride and get into accidents.

Her children were in the car....pulled a gun from the glovebox

So she leaves her kids in the car, with the keys, and a loaded gun in the glovebox...
I hope those kids are infants so didn't have access to the gun, but still she doesn't seem all that bright.

car was being stolen...(she) jumped into the passenger side...she shot him in the head.

Good for her. Although I do wonder if that's going to mess up her kids having witnessed it. And it's going to be a mess to clean.

Guns can come in handy

So can lojack, and not leaving your kids or keys in the car.

Some want stricter gun laws.

If I thought this woman in any way represented the decision making abilities of the vast majority of gun owners, even I might join the stricter gun law campaign.

Not sure if she will be on trial,

She has to be. It might be a short formality, or full blown.
She might have to go through a criminal trial formality, and then she might be sued by the deceased's family in civil court.

Actually it would be self defense.

Not necessarily.
"Self defense" isn't a magic word, legally speaking.

That depends in the caliber of the gun....a .22, not so much, a .44, she might want to get new car...

If there were more people like this mom and the cop last week, we would have less scum on our streets.

Did you read the story?, the lady jumped in the car where HER KIDS were. Did you expect her to then grab the gun out of the glove compartment, jump out of the car ( leaving her kids in there) and try to shoot out a tire????

Really? you would do that if your petrified kids were in the car with a car jacker... really?

I have seen a few instances where kids could have been hurt by a person and it was not the father the person had to worry about.. it was the mother

You see mothers have a extremely deep instinct to protect their children.. very deep... the deepest instinct

you have that.. right?

She did what Moms do.

I think the tire was smarter than the carjacker.

Besides, in a panic situation like that, I highly doubt that she would have hit the car, much less the tire.

this isn't socialist canuckistan...but I think it depends on the state if it's considered a capital crime...in Texas, if someone gets during a major felony crime, they can get a death sentence...

She just did what any mother desperate to save her children would have done and was fortunate enough to believe in the second amendment that she used her gun to save her children

Imagine if she didn't have a gun?

And they say guns don’t save lives, I think this is an example yes?

Here it happens a lot and while it is not a capital offence it is a very very serious offense.

Many times innocent pedestrians or motorists have been killed by the get a way car jacker During accidents. Then they are also facing vehicular homicide charges.

If there is a victim of the car jacking still in the car, the cops will give full chase. If not they break off the chase as not to cause a accident.

Then they put the crime on the news, offer a reward of a few $1,000 and the car jacker friends or family turn them in.

Money talks

Would not have thought twice doing what she did~~~

State of Texas if you are protecting your kids as she did they never file charges he will be charged for the car jacking, endangerment to a child, Kidnapping and sure a few more charges...

Ohh and you can carry a gun in your car in Texas the carrying permit is for if you are carrying it on you all the time.. But still allowed to have one in the car glove box.

Humm in Texas if you are allowed to carry a gun in your glove box without a permit~~~ As long as it is not on you if so then you must have a permit to carry~~~

https://www.gunstocarry.com/gun-laws-state/texas-gun-laws/

"Without a permit. Any person who can legally possess a handgun can carry it within a vehicle. However, if you do not have a LTC license then the firearm must be concealed in the glove box, console or other area but not on your person"

As far Im concerned, she did a great thing by shooting him
As long as she and her kids are safe, I say thank God.

And hopefully this near death experience for the would be carjacker is one of the life lessons and hopefully smart enough to figure out that crime doesn't pay.

2) Don't mess with a mom with young children who is packing

I say thank God she was in Texas , because if she was in Jerry Brown's Territory they might have arrested her and victimized him.
