Sad .. something close to my heart ... two hump back whales stranded on a nz beach .. believed to be a mother and calf ., the younger whale died earlier today .tears ,.. the rescuers. Said the female's calls to the younger whale were heartbreaking ., it has now been 36 hrs and they have dug a big channel on the beach . Hoping it will fill at high tide and she will be strong enough to swim back out to sea .. such an amazing effort nz :heart:

:cry: makes one wonder why the large mammals do this.. seems to happen in a lot of places.

I am not sure we know ., experts say possibly underwater sonar pulses disorientate them or they respond to distress calls when one becomes beached ., some beachins are thought to be intentional by a sick whale . But really they are all just guesses .

Back in nz .. They have not been able to refloat the stranded female whale and have made the call to euthanise her .. she is just to weak :heart:

That's really sad Blondey :cry: If they aren't intentionally beaching themselves I hope the marine guys figure out what's causing it so maybe they can do something about it.
