In my 20's it was fashionable to be engaged for, roughly, 6 to 12 months. Some of that time was to arrange all of the festivities. Now, it seems to me, an engagement period includes adjusting to the idea of "Till death do us part".
From the few individuals whom I have known that have lived together before marrying, cohabitation does not bring the mental commitment that saying I do does. IMO, living together is not only against scriptural teaching but can be misleading. |

When I was young, I was engaged 6 months then married. I do still feel 6 months is good. But no longer than 1yr.
Many people do have longer engagements, while living together as partners. I do not cohabitate because it is against Scripture. Problem is many who liven are comfortable with that and Never make the commitment of marriage. I f a person wants marriage, they should never settle for less. |

We must pray for the next generation, the days are more wicked than ever (well biblical history has known all these ways; but I've never witnessed such craziness as is now in the open) people are marrying animals! and I thought same sex marriage was crazy, its a thing of the corrupted world being adapted/accepted into what is a sacred and Godly tradition. I'm not judging the world. Our Lord will do that. I'm simply confused by how many of our fellow humans are buying into these things... |

For me, get married only when you are sure you are ready and to be sure you are ready you have to actively seek God's opinion of your spouse...and if HE says NO, my dear cry home and break up. For the Potter must mold to His taste and need. God First all things else second. #my opinion though |

Yeah Toodygirl I agree with you especially when you said that if a person wants to marry they should settle for nothing less. As per the New Testament it says that fornication is a sin. However, I do not remember ever reading that cohabitating was against scripture.
