Why does european art look so much better and insightful than art from the rest of the world? Or is it my idea?

Agree, eye of the beholder which is influenced by individual feelings.

My favourite painter is European though. Piet Mondrian glasses

If u drop a few drops of paint on a board, can u call this abstract "art"? With this logic, i can say that 2 and 2 is 20, but u cant undertand it. Same with cubism, thats not art, thats ugly. Have u ever heard of the term degenerate art? Art demonstrates the spirit. African art looks very primitive to me or does it depend again o th eye of the beholder? Ok for an autistic person, maybe finds art 20 shoes on a line. Is that art?

Piet mondrian is obviously degenerate art, even an autistic can paint what he did. Thats not art

what exactly do you mean by "european" art?

what is your definition of "art from the rest of the world"?

Maybe because it has more historical meaning!
Imo art is in the eye of the beholder.
One man's art is another man's mess!
Plus art to me definitely has a class following

Art is expression.
Expression is inherent to the creator, whether it is images, sound or intellect.
The beholder is unique to their identification of meaning while embracing such expression.

I like blues guitar.
I don't like rap.
I like colorful abstracts.
I don't care for still-life.
My preferences define my passion.
Your preferences define your passion.

Why is it important to push your preferences on others?
Do you really want a world where everyone only agrees with you?
Where's the fun in that?

Interesting that you should write that, Tom. Your posts always speak in absolutes.

His early works consisted of landscapes though, but he became most famous for his minimalistic masterpieces, ie the ones with the squares. It had some hypnotic, yet soothing effect on him to do these paintings and those who admire him, would feel the same.

I agree. Not sure why because I consider myself pretty open-minded.
I do know I am decisive in my opinion and when I respond to posts I am usually writing from my own views on the subject.

I don't converse like I write. That is unless its a firepit discussion where I am urged to give my opinion some philosophy. In regualr converstaion face to face, I listen much more than I speak.

Perhaps I do come across with finality and absolutes but anyone that has read much of what I write knows I only offer my opinion as a suggestion to consider, never telling anyone what they should or shouldn't do.
More like a 'consider' this than a 'do' this.

I think maybe Expressionism is the best. I enjoy Goya, even thought some of the scenes may not be for everyone.

I was lucky enough to see an exhibition of the Terracotta Army.

It will be a long time before I see anything as awe inspiring again, if ever.
