Topic: Most Important Movies Ever Made.. | |
---|---|
Okay. Here is how this is going to work. You list a movie you feel is one of the most important made. Could be for what they accomplished for stoyrtelling, or what they did to help change the way movies were made, or what they did as far as making you think, or creating controversy. Anything like these. Just please do put down why you feel each is important.
BOYZ N THE HOOD (1991)- When I saw this, I was a Senior in high school, and after watching this film about life in South Central, I knew that I had seen a film that had totally and completely exposed me to that life. But more than that, the story that drives this film is real. The actors all make it real. Hell, even Ice Cube played his part well (which wasn't a stretch) but it was a good performance from him. I might not have agreed with everything that Singleton said in this film, but I know this. It woke me up to realize that there was another side in this world. To me, this movie is the most powerful "statement" movie ever made. 16 years later, I watched it again...and it is still powerful. That speaks volumes. |

JAWS...I still can't go in the ocean and I'm sure I'm not the only one! A whole generation of kids know the "show me the way to go home, I'm tired and I wanna go to bed, I had a little drink about an hour ago, and it went straight to my head" bom bom bom...the ominous sound when the shark was near...The movie just blew my mind!!!

Glad you brought up JFK. I don't care what people say about this film. Most feel it is just more conspiracy theory than anything. But when you watched it, you were left going, "What if?". Great film. One that still makes you think.

"the power of one" It's another movie that wakes you up to the way life use to be, and is still somewhat today. About a young white kid going against the grain of the thoughts that society had on color of the skin at the time. Powerful movie.

Certainly one of the most important in recent years is 'Sicko'. The crisis in healthcare in this country is real & Michael Moore does a great service by exposing this.

The Day a Pig Fell into the Well (1996)
Hong Sang So's debut movie is one of the best examples of pure arthouse. It deals with the negative aspects of relationships and explicitly shows unhappiness, boredom, jealousy and adultery. It leaves the viewer with a lot to think about. |

The most important movie I have ever seen was The Passion of Christ. It was a strong reminder for my faith.

RUDY (1993)- I saw Rudy Ruettiger speak one night. And when he talked about getting to play those 29 seconds or so was amazing. All he wanted to do was play at Notre Dame. Everybody told him he could not do it. He was too dumb. Too small. But he had something that guys with twice his talent did not have....HEART and DESIRE. I'm sorry, but if you watch this movie and you do not get choked up when Rudy runs onto the field..then you just aint human. And you feel damn good when he makes that sack. Truly one of the best inspirational movies ever made.

THE VILLAGE (2004), M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN: I saw this movie in the theater, and honestly didn't know or fully understand what was going on until she climbed over the wall and I saw the pages roadway with the Jeep driving down it. When I realized everything was modern day...and those people had themselves tucked away in the forest trying to create a life for themselves "secluded" from the "evils" of the world...something just hit me. I sat in my seat for quite a while after the movie thinking, "Wow. The problem isn't all of the evil AROUND us, like we honestly try to believe at times. The problem is the evil WITHIN us." And sadly, no amount of seclusion from anything will end or stop that.
