YOKOKE , how the heck are ya on this fine snowy night ?? just wondering , how do you keep a igloo warm ? Staying snuggly tonight and you?? Actually if you build them right, they can be quite adequate and keep the chill off. The girls love it and we try to add a mailbox if possible and a healthy supply of snowballs inside. LOL Makes for good memories and excuses for extra marshamallows in the hot chocolate |

I was tickled to death that it snowed tonight here in Ohio. Although it's not a foot of snow, which I'd prefer, I'm grateful. Even though it was night when it fell, I went out in it, but it had turned to rain. Now it's frozen...and I couldn't resist going out just one more time for the night, to slide on the ice...as if ice skating....right in the road, of course!! Ah...the good things in life....!

Growing up, back in MI, our neighbors would literally build an ice skating rink in their yard every year. It was the coolest thing in the world to me. I spent a lot of time there. Nothing better than a cold night ice skating and listening to the juke box that they'd set up so it would play songs for free. The only requirement was that we had to shovel the rink when we were done, which was no big deal, of course, and we always did. (My older sister and I.) Other fun times including going to a place called Mc Donald's Hill...which was a man's backyard...with a hill on it that he iced over and we could slide down it just in our clothes!! Yee ha!! That was a riot, although one guy broke his arm cause he decided to be "cool" and go down standing up. In the summer, there was another place in the neighborhood that had a rope that you'd swing from one side to the other. The main part of it was built kinda like treefort.

no probs ...i got them ..... igloos???? how http://www.lillianvernon.com/catalog/product_display.jsp?pdId=4203&name=Snowball+Tongs+%26+Block+Mold&parentCatId=2&catId=246&subCatId=79 Ours is a bit bigger, but I am sure you could use any squarish box to pack and dump.... This will keep kids (and adults) entertained for hours.... (I remember sev years ago being out at 3am working on the igloo addition(2nd room)LOL ) Nothing more peaceful than coveralls, moon and snow... tell us how the igloos are made
Use your feet to shuffle to decide how big a circle you need. Use the igloo square and start packing and placing. Alternate spacing as you go up. Throw in a window if needed. Use dabs of snow to fill in gaps so no air blows in. Go easy on the top. You might get a cave in, just repack and have patience. If you lose patience, consider redesign & add sunlight window to top LOL Evenyualy crawling in and out makes the floor solid and you might bring in extra blocks to make seats and table. If you do it up right this can stay a good month or two... Or the kids play earthquake and destroy it out of boredom OR A bigger kid in the neighborhood finds it and destroys it... but usually mother nature redecorates the yard for you... |
