Would you say a choice is any decision in which there is more than one option presented?
Would you say that just because something may not have come from a conscious choice where obvious options are presented ,,, it may still come from a subconscious 'choice' from past experiences conditioning/immersing ones experience more so in one option then in others? Like Pavlovs dogs salivating(not something chosen, but physiological) to a bell. The bell was not something they would naturally have any reaction to, but that they were IMMERSED in the conditioning to replace the experience of smell and sight with that of sound? |

and if i comment that is a choice : )
thats a deep thought me i would say a choice could be hampered from past things done or things done to you as well as things you have learned weather it be of your own or someone else but again it would still be a choice of doing it again or not <shrug> |

freewill
There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance A planet of playthings we dance on the strings of powers we cannot perceive "the stars aren't aligned --- or the gods are malign" blame is better to give than receive You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill i will choose a path that's clear i will choose free will There are those who think that they've been dealt a losing hand the cards were stacked against them --- they weren't born in lotus-land All preordained a prisoner in chains a victim of venomous fate kicked in the face you can't pray for a place in heaven's unearthly estate You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill i will choose a path that's clear i will choose free will Each of us a cell of awareness imperfect and incomplete! genetic blends with uncertain ends on a fortune hunt that's far too fleet... You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill i will choose a path that's clear i will choose free will |

One of the reasons companies spend millions on advertising is to influence our choice when making a purchase, and the frequency of their TV ad campaigns is almost a conditioning, it must work or they would not spend those huge amounts of money. |

while many many are easily influenced by advertising (as evidenced by this scandal of a 'human being' that currently resides in the white house)thankfully, i am not among them. faulty or false advertising not only doesn't encourage me towards whatever is being advertised thusly, but pushes me away and causes me to share my observations with others in effort to reduce their being influenced.
it's pretty sad, if you ask me. we used to be wiser. |

Would you say a choice is any decision in which there is more than one option presented?
If I were speaking to friends and casual non specific speech was acceptable, sure. Would you say that just because something may not have come from a conscious choice where obvious options are presented ,,, it may still come from a subconscious 'choice' from past experiences
Maybe. Depends on a lot of things. Like Pavlovs dogs salivating(not something chosen, but physiological) to a bell. The bell was not something they would naturally have any reaction to
Where is the dogs choice at any point? Did the dog choose to be born? Choose to go into Pavlovian research at doggy school? Choose to feel hunger? Choose the information his ears picked up? Does the dog have the mental capacity or self awareness to determine its own conditioning and then choose to reverse it? What is the habituated choice being made by the dog? Where is the conditioned choice made by the dog? Do dogs have choice at any point in their lives, or are they just following "programming." they were IMMERSED in the conditioning to replace the experience of smell and sight with that of sound?
Sounds didn't really "replace" sight and sound. "Replacing" implies that after conditioning if you showed the dog food, or just produced a food smell, the dog would no longer respond, that it's natural triggers were "replaced" by sound. |

Choice.. you see an open flame in that instant you choose to stick your hand in it are you choose not to...
Through experience.. you have learned the consequences of sticking your hand in the open flame.... now you're mine can override the choice not to stick your hand in the flame... but the consequences will be the same |
