laugh No, not practical at all Mikey, lol. I don't get why someone would want to spend so much money on a boat that you only race in. I guess for the thrill of it and to maybe win a ton of money. I'm just too practical, I would want something that you can fish in, relax in, and a cabin to sleep in so you can have over night adventures.

Yes, I can't see owning one not practical for my needs/wants. My uncle raced them for a living, not those particular kind though. I guess he made money, and I suppose Budweiser is probably still paying him from his injuries.

As far as one with a cabin, I always wanted one, but they can be a pain to maintain.. I've thought about enclosing part of the pontoon... but I can set up a tent on it, or I could spend some bucks and get the tent enclosure made for it. It would then be it's own tent.

Of course, using an island and tent so you can have a cozy fire is much more preferred. bigsmile

Yes, good point Stu. I guess a cabin really isn't necessary unless your living on it. I know a lot who do that down here, and it is difficult to maintain, especially with mildew and mold being so prominent in the humid areas.

Definitely finding a place to camp and building a fire would be better. happy

bigsmile yeah, you can't pull a cabin cruiser up on a beach. Pontoon I can run it right up on it and ya don't have to get your feet wet... drinks

Very true! So if I ever get a boat, I'll go for one without a cabin. happy

Well, down there I don't know.. it's a hard call. Have to weigh all the pros and cons of where it's going to be used. I never really considered a pontoon, but after having one now, I love it.. plenty of room to move around.. jump off the front deck to swim.. fire up the grill.. just kick back and float and listen to music.. and have a few beers... drinks

Yes. But I would much rather have a pontoon boat today , so as to move freely about the vessel standing up. Got a 1986 14' Blue Fin for sale.

Nice, I love to sail. I've been on pontoon boats and yes, they are a lot better for moving around.
