MotownDowntown,

you right media entertainment is just that. I believe those young ladies acted out of malice. I played Slender Man and I thought the game's newer chapters are good but not to the point of wanted to murder and cause harm. I thought the movie " Grind House" was so violent and would be eligible for a violent act.

Tom4UHere,

Very well put, do you think its the girls fault or the media?

I grew up on the coyote trying to do things to the road runner. I never dropped an anvil on anyone. These were mentally sick sick girls that let this take hold. My son has played grand theft auto, etc....never acted out.

Actually I think it is the parents fault. At that age, everything the child does is the result of parenting.

Dangerous cliffs, railroad tracks and highways exist. So does extreme media.

MotownDowntown,

Really.....so i take it this was in your local news in your area. Do you agree video games can influence murder? I mean can you imagine i play call of duty which if you dont follow its a next gen military game, i play it then i run into a forest looking for enemy to shoot. Sounds bizarre huh? I think those young ladies just acted out of rage.

i know this was to motown, but i'm gunna weigh in here... i don't think the VG's are the cause, per say, but they do desensitize us to death/murder... if someone plays all day long, and kills 5000 people in the game while playing, whats to make him think it's wrong to do it in real life?

if someone plays all day long, and kills 5000 people in the game while playing, whats to make him think it's wrong to do it in real like?

Really?

Here are a few reasons:

Moral integrity
Intelligence
Religious beliefs
Opportunity
Laws and punishments

The military taught me how to kill.
Even tho I know how to do it, I am not predisposed to go on a killing spree.
When I pick up a knife I don't imagine plunging it into someone.
My truck has brakes. In the movies we see people getting plowed by cars and trucks all the time. Not once have I considered running someone over.

Movies and games do not define us. They are entertainment.
Anyone able to do those heinous acts does not need a game or movie to set them off. They have bigger issues.

how many video games have you played? ever play any war sims? halo? any first person shooter?

the reason i'm asking is that it's hard to understand something unless youve done it... how would you describe a 7th dimension if you've never seen it? same thing applies here, it's hard to understand the mentality of a gamer without ever playing the games...

YellowRose,

I agree with you maybe its some mental health in there. maybe that case will put a spot light on the mental health community and we as a nation could address those issues.

LOL, I've been playing games since pong came out.
I love FPS. I love blowing stuff up, destruction and causing mayhem.
I also watch a lot of horror and action movies. Its been years since a horror movie horrified me. I'm desensitized to it all.

That doesn't mean I would actually DO ANY of it in real life.

My actions are my choice. I am not blindly reactive.
My choices are governed by my morals, intelligence and social acceptance.

It doesn't matter if its a game, a movie or an abusive parent/spouse, our actions are our own. You always have a choice, always.

Shoot that man in the head or I will shoot you in the head. Ultimately it is your choice to pull the trigger or not.

My daddy beat me when I was little. You have a choice to follow his footsteps or to rise above and not beat your children.

Some people are twisted and some people are not. The key consideration is "Some People".

There is a difference between instruction and entertainment.
Just because you have been instructed how to do something does not require that you always do it.

MightyMoe,

Same here buddy I like Slender Man Orgin 2. Yes its a creepy game but I know the difference between entertainment & reality. Now you want to talk about a game that I can see influence evil people to kill I can see a RockStar Games, remember " Manhunt"?
