Just so we're clear...Welfare programs are State not Federal. I grew up in PA, tried raising my family in PA. I got out of there. Too much negativity and it was starting to make me negative. I got away from cities too. Too much oppression and hatred. My advice is to get as far away from the 13 Colonial States as you can and opt for town life over major cities. The Midwest states are wonderful. Full of life and progress. I'll never go back to the dreaded 13. Oppressive and depressing. I currently live in Mississippi, one of the poorest states in the nation. Funny that I haven't heard anything about welfare problems at all? I personally don't know one person on welfare. I'm sure there are people on it, I just don't know anyone that is. I do know many that work and pay their bills. NOLA is depressing and oppressive but at least they party. There is always something happening but that is how it is in the South. People are alive and flourishing. NOLA is about 50 miles from me. Far enough away to keep the madness at bay but close enough to enjoy the entertainment. I lived in Missouri while raising my children. St. Louis was a madhouse but the surrounding sub-cities were a lot of fun with many great adventures. I lived 50 miles from St. Louis too. You might consider that your environment might be influencing your expectations in a negative way? Perhaps that is why I see most of your topics as negative? I have grown accustomed to being around people that actually like where they live. http://socialwelfare.library.vcu.edu/public-welfare/public-welfare-state-federal-welfare-relationships/ Common knowledge. The fact is that there is medicare which is federal. There is SSI which is federal. There is medicaid which is determined and distribulted by each state. Food stamps and Cash Assistance, is also determined by each state. HUD is FHA (federal). HUD Grants to states are fund limited. I qualify for medicare and disability SSI which is federal. I do not qualify for state welfare at all. I might qualify for HUD but have never tried. I PAY for medicare and Rx. The SSI Disability is from my contribution. It is MY money and I pay no tax on it. |

Conrad_73, well the only reason I said he was for the people I know about the store he gave up but he did sign the first welfare bill and he signed a bill to create housing projects in major cities. That bill, was an attempt to weaken Republican districts by moving low-income, low info voters into them. "Housing projects" become ghetto's. |

Alleoops,
Yes it did to cripple the republican party. But welfare started for white middle class to poor to help out while your husband went off to war. But when the men got back frim the war everybody needed it. |

I do not feel any one person can 'fail us'. Us , by definition requires collective effort.

Trump will be blamed for much of obama failure as more and more becomes apparent. It takes time for the results to become apparent. Kind of like clinton dis-armed USA and so today we sitting ducks. Look how long it has taken for obamacare to become obvious a fail? Most knew it would come to an end quickly but many had to go down the road to witness and many still not admitting. I am amazed how much $ it costs people these days to have insurance and cannot afford to pursue health. Tragic. these days? Really? its interesting, from my point of view,, the costs of healthcare and insurance have been rising since I started working 30 years ago, LONG BEFORE reform |
All I know it's if it's got the words reform attached to it, it's no good. Usually benefits those who attached it.
thats alot of power to give a word
what I know is many people I know who could not get insurance before and many sick people who were turned away for the basic preventative care that offsets the higher costs of untreated conditions and illness,,,,now don't have to worry and have a chance to actually shop for costs that arent part of some high end bean counters monopoly... |
It's not going to do an one any good when it totally tanks.
The CEO for catapillar was involved in the immigration reform coalition petition. Giving speeches telling everyone that we didn't have the skills to qualify for the jobs in the U.S. Could it be he just wanted cheap labor without insurance? |
Well, it would have already done some people some good IF it tanks
if its taken away, it cannot possibly do ANYONE any good,,, |
