so guys...how long till you get tired of chatting with the same person on line? when do you start looking for a new "flavor" how long can you chat without any "romantic" interests going on ? how soon do you get bored talking about pets and everything else other than having a relationship? no violent reactions pls just facts

For me on a dating site when chatting in order to find a date / love / relationship, I stop chatting as soon as I realize it's not going anywhere.
I get bored real easy.
You never should waste time talking about feeding the cats or having to take the bin out. If conversation isn't any more interesting than that when you haven't even met, you're likely going to die from boredom with that person in a relationship.

It also means you yourself have got to come up with more inspirational stuff to talk about.
There are smart things you can address or ask to find out in a very short time if he could be a potential match.
Dating and finding love is about time and not wasting it. You don't want to spend 10 yrs finding someone, so you gotta find a way to speed up the process. Not difficult, you just gotta get smart and become more adept at conversations, esp in the very beginning.

So as soon as I found out he wasn't what I was looking for, I was gone. After all, I wasn't looking for a friend to whine to about day to day chores and boring stuff.

Also, you don't waste too much time talking. It's about meeting up.

I don't feel "romantic interests" online, that's just deluding yourself, emotional masturbation.
Online interaction can be, at best, like a choose your own adventure romance novel. You aren't feeling "romantic interest" towards the author of the book, you're using the story to make yourself feel a certain way, interpreting the characters in the story how you want to see them.

If you're asking "how long can you chat without any 'romantic' overtures" like "let's meet for dinner," or whatever, then the answer is not very long.
The point isn't to fall in love online, it's to find someone to meet to fall in love with. You don't meet them until you're offline.
Online dating sites allow you to find someone to set up a "meet cute," not to be the "meet cute," IMO.


I wouldn't really be in a conversation about pets and everything else other than meeting and dating and things that can be done together.

I'm not compatible with people who think ejaculating the minutia of their life or past is meaningful. Life is a dynamic process. You learn who they are by participating in it with them.
If their life is mostly just staring at a screen and chatting, I wouldn't be all that attracted to them.


IMO most people are good conversationalists, there just has to be a purpose to the conversation that is mutually beneficial, and clear indications there will be mutual benefit of some kind.
IME with online, most people seek conversation for their own sake, their own desire for what it represents to them, sometimes conversation itself, without it leading to anything, without considering what's in it for the other person.

Conversations are easier in person, because you get the immediate feedback from body language, facial expression, behavior, and tone. You figure out what they're getting from it, you know what you're getting from it.
