It's a matter of how you mean "love."
Most people do love many others during their lives, after all, most families consist of at least three people. And most people do care about friends, to the point where it is true to say that they love them. What matters in the case of so-called "love triangles," is what people choose to DO about the care that they feel for one another. Monogamy and marriage-like commitments are CHOICES, not magically forced conditions where no one feels anything for anyone else. The reason to make the choice for monogamy, is primarily practical. It is rare that a person can have a very strong emotional and physical care for another person, AND for someone else again, where both of those other people feel exactly the same way about the first person AND each other. Unless everyone cares about each other the same way, a marriage of multiples can't work, because one or more person would always be chasing after someone or something else outside of it. Most of the time when a situation is called a "love triangle," what is actually going on, is that ONE person has decided to try to conduct their life with TWO OTHER people at the same time, but the other two people aren't enjoying the existence of EACH OTHER being there. The first person pretends that they love both of the others, but really they obviously don't, since they aren't doing anything to see to BOTH other peoples' happiness. |

I can hardly handle one, never mind more. That's what the cigarette breaks are for Joe. Catch your breath and reset the odometer |

How people manage to love more than one person I imagine it would be possible, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to be in such a relationship. To me that is more like keeping someone on the back burner in case things don't work out with the other. In my opinion it doesn't lead to a strong healthy relationship, only leads to misery and a huge headache trying to juggle your affairs. Nope, for me it's monogamous or remain single. |

When I watched 'Camelot' for the first time years ago
something from it stayed with me a lifetime. The female lead, Gwendolyn (Vanessa Redgrave) wanted nothing more than to have men fight over her, tragic as that outcome would prove. I pondered the concept a long time. That, for her, the point of life was to get a following of admirers, sincere or otherwise. Another triangle. Someone always pays. |
