Im trying to understand the accusatory tone of some of the comments here.

If someone has an opposing view to the OP or to one of the respondents in a thread, is there an unspoken rule about the number of times a person is allowed to voice their opposing view?

I thought the only rules of engagement involved staying on the topic , and keeping the communicatioñ respectful ,
and you are ALWAYS classy and respectful in your correspondence Ms H

Can someone explain to me how voicing an opposing view repetitively is placed in the same category as trolling?

And furthermore, isnt the troller and the victim of trolling accorded the SAME power to disengage from a conversation with the other, if both consider the other person or their viewpoint to be poopy?

What I suspect , (and I admit to not having a Phd in trolling) , is that either one /both parties refuse to disengage because neither wants to be perceived as weak /wrong ,OR one/ both wish to incite other respondents to jump in and give credence to them or their ideology.

Im an opinionated person myself and a passionate debater ,as are some of the respondents in this thread, but the difference is that some oppose a viewpoint, and some ATTACK THE PERSON with the the view point.

The first, is totally in line with what this forum was constructed for.

The second is derrogatory , unfair and completely out of line

I threaten to tell their mom.
Sometimes it works....sometimes not.

seems to happen more in politics section
you can report it
send a message to the mods

can you not? but I am not sure what good making a thread
complaining about it is going to do


unless you were hoping for enough support that the mods
would pay attention and make this against the rules

Do people really understand what a bully actually is? Cyber bully is that stupidest thing anyone ever came up with... Are people really that weak minded that letters typed on a computer can affect their daily lives? Mean, your at your computer, they are at theirs, who can they make you do anything???? They can't steal your lunch money, they can't hurt you in any way, they can't do anything other than type...

I believe you can be very hurt by another on line ...
especially the younger generation ...
who do not understand or how to deal with ...
what others may or do say to them ...
adults and children get scammed all the time...
becouse they do not know any better ...
words do hurt ... and can mentally hurt...
believe me ...I have experienced it ...
an now understand more ...

scamming is different... This is about bullying... If people let someone they've never met, or are never going to meet, ruin their day by some stupid words on a computer screen, then they need help... If someone calls someone else a name, like stupid, who cares? I know I'm not stupid, so why would I let that effect me in any way? Calling the mods like its the third grade homeroom teacher? When I start getting upset over something like that, I just TURN THE COMPUTER OFF.... Letting this affect your life off the computer tells people they need some help...
