The thing is, Jess, this type of thing is happening in cities all over the U.S., too. It does bother a lot of us, that a holiday we've loved since we were little kids is being torn apart by such craziness!

How do they possibly know that Santa isn't referring to gardening equipment?

Why does everything have to have a sexual innuendo?

How is gardening equipment offensive to women? I thought some women liked to have pretty gardens where they could hoe, hoe, hoe... ??

Maybe they should change it to...

Besides... name me just one person who has ever met Santa Claus that can confirm he DIDN'T mean the piece of gardening equipment... maybe, just maybe that was what Mrs. Claus (if there is one) wanted for her very first Christmas (a garden hoe), and the tradition stuck all these years...

I think in general when it comes to 'political correctness' just stop being so damn sensitive. If we are truly in a free country with freedom of expression and if Santa wants to say 'ho, ho, ho' then do it. Christian wants to put a nativity scene by their business go ahead. Jew wants to light a menorah you have green lights and if a pagan wants to put up a pentagram more power to you. What freedom are we fighting for if we aren't free to express ourselves.

What freedoms do you have right now?

What freedoms are more important?

A bloke dressed up in a red suit calling out anything, or the right to elect the people's choice government?

In the grand scheme of things we have very few rights, and focussing attentions and indignation over a fictitious symbol, who can or cannot say something created in fairytale myth, is like throwing a cup of water on a raging bushfire.

I think what's really sticking in everyone's craw is just how ridiculous political correctness has become.

I work in retail, and I'm just waiting for the first customer to complain at some store if Santa says "Ha-Ha-Ha". I can see her now....indignant....walking up to the manager and complaining that Santa is rude because he laughed at her as she pushed her shopping cart by.....and demanding the manager give her a discount for her inconvenience.....Stuff like that happens......

The kids are the best!!
