Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.

I see - so if we don't let people say and do and take and change, what they want, it is because of our own fear. - Not common sense or experience or history. But it is a weakness.
No way Merkel Sucks |

Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power. Really? Well the Federal prisons (Club Fed) is full of people who held powerful positions.. and were corrupt. Greed is the core of corruption. |

Fighting corruption is another complicated concern, that in heated political times such as we are in, itself often becomes corrupted.
ANY time that leaders OVERSIMPLIFY things like the fight against corruption, they will tend to defeat their own efforts, and even cause additional corruption. This is because corruption itself, is rarely as simple as "greedy people taking bribes," or "tricky people lying in the news." Dangerous corruption also occurs, when angry people try to take shortcuts to defeat things like corruption. Common mistakes in our history include, but are not limited to: * taking a shortcut to "get the bad guys," by reducing Freedom of Speech (as Trump is proposing to do now). * trying to use existing authorities to perform a task that they are not designed to perform, such as using the Army to perform police activities in domestic situations. * declaring large, only vaguely described groups of people within your own borders, to be "enemies" to everyone else, and therefore declaring your rights to supersede theirs. * declaring that DIFFERENCES OF OPINION are CORRUPTIONS to be eliminated. * setting aside your own real principles, in order to take action against perceived corruption more quickly. * short circuiting the legal system, such that ACCUSATIONS of corruption are sufficient to declare someone guilty, without investigation or trial. * making the attack on claimed corruption, a cause unto itself, so that it turns into an unending witch-hunt/pseudo-patriotic-crusade. |

Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power. That's why term limits should be implemented in Congress and the Senate. Absolutely Must be a global issue. Look what 11 yrs of Merkel did to Europe, which in turn effected the entire world. |
