I think you hit the nail squarely on the head posting that quote - that is exactly what Hillary Clinton and all her supporters did as well as the news media who got it SO SO SO WRONG !

Why not. The internet is now a huge confirmation bias search engine.

You've got a confirmation bias library, social media to argue, then porn and shopping to relieve stress when it all gets frustrating.

So many websites and "news" outlets have turned into (or always were) click bait eyeball farms.

Unfortunately people believe they are informing their opinions.

90%+ of the threads started in this section of the forums seem to show that.

So 'People research the ideas that confirm their opinions, not ideas that inform their opinions, and it's entertaining to read and comment about it.'

Unfortunately it's much easier to see the cognitive biases in others than in self.

Fortunately it is possible to see it with self awareness once one makes the effort.

oh crickster, lets be intellectually honest about the fact that it happens on all sides

partiality, bias, and unfounded accusations are not partisan techniques

I agree

I found some juicy stuff about Trump that I found was bogus upon research,,,,

I watch people continue over and over to type the same bogus information about Clinton

This is, ironically, a case in point. ASSUMING what happened, before any research has been done to come up with any actual facts.

I don't care for this particular quote. It needs some improvement.

Too may people don't understand that there is such a thing as a VALID opinion, as well as a correct process to form one.

That process requires that the research be done FIRST, and after ALL pertinent data is gathered, an opinion is DEDUCED from the evidence. Instead, these people start from a thought which pleases them, and then search for anything at all, true or false, proven or unproven, including other peoples' unsupported opinions, to use as a fake cover story.
