I have a question. My daughter has strept throat again!! This is the third time in a year or little over a year she has had it. I'm going to talk to the doctor tomorrow when i take her. My question is why does she keep getting it? This is a 10 yr old that is healthy as a horse, eats good foods, once in a while junk food, but what kid wont eat that but she always get sick. I dont get it. My son on the other hand, does not eat right and he never gets sick. thanks

It could be Tonsilitis? (I don't think I spelled it right) Anyway, do they still remove them?

When I was a kid I got Strep once a month! I think it's a fairly normal thing. Some get it, some don't.
It did finally stop when I was a teenager... Has the Dr. talked about removing tonsils? |

I usually get it every year in August. Even if am not around anyone that has it. Doctors say my tonsils are just fine. I just take antibiotics and wait till next year. Wish her speedy recovery.

Are you sure it is strep? Strep throat is caused by the microbe Streptococcus pyogenes which is transmitted by close contact (spit particles). It does not matter how healthy you are if you are repeatedly exposed to the organism.

My son gets it all the time, some kids are just prone to it, I think. My sister got it all the time too, but my brothers and I never did. They might have to take out the tonsils but usually won't unless she's also getting repeated bouts of tonsilitis as well. Not much help, I know I'd check with her doctor to see if there's anything that might help in preventing it in the future (and if there is, please let me know!)

once you get strep, it comes back, so she should find out how she is catching it. i don't know about the tonsils being taken out. they filter infection. i still have mine.

Good, that's a relief for you, I know! Strep's no fun.

Sounds like she is chronically harbouring the virus it in her body ... it goes dormant for awhile but comes back if she gets run down... kinda like people prone to cold sores.
Sugar supresses the immune system too so she should avoid especially when she is sick. More alkaleine foods and less of the acid producing ones will help her body deal with the virus too... easy to find info ... just google alkaleine diet. |
