what normally holds you back of not pursuing to know someone even more to whom he/she strongly caught your attention with?

I find if someone who has caught my eye has something in their profile that I feel I'm not up to. Or that she gives me the feeling she is very out going.. which I'm not. I think really it's the fear of rejection.

To much effort. I have set myself up pretty well as a single guy. It would take someone EXTREMELY special for me to COMPLETELY change my life in order to share in hers. Plus I'm kind of tired of trying to match my needs, desires, and baggage with hers. At this point, I feel UnMatchable.

I'm still fairly young but I'm done with the wealth building phase and quickly heading towards the retirement phase. I will NOT be working any more after the beginning of next year. I intend on enjoying MANY wilderness excursions at weeks or months at a time. Most women aren't interested in camping more then a weekend or so. That alone eliminates most women if not all of them.

THE PAST.......''THERE IS NO HOLDING BACK IN THE HERE AND NOW''....WHATS HOLDS

US BACK ON ANYTHING IS ARE PAST.....IT TAKES WORK TO STAY IN THE HERE AND NOW AND

REALIZE THAT PERSON NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE AND NOT COMPARE THEM TO ALL THE PEOPLE

WE HAVE KNOWN AND REALLY SEE THEM AS WHO THEY ARE.....EVERYONE HAS FILTERS IN

THERE HEAD....WOMEN ARE ALWAYS TESTING US TO SEE IF WE ARE WHO WE PRESENT

OURSELVES TO BE.....

LOL rofl rofl

On a dating site, a completely blank profile. If they can't be bothered to even write a few sentences about themselves, I tend to question whether or not they are scammers.

Some like myself are very cautious.I have jumped the gun before and made wrong decisions based on initial attraction, so as a rule I tend to lay back and observe for a short while.

in my case,am very particular in one's character.
i deeply and attentively observe the consistency of the person through the flow of between our conversations and bantering.

the presence of rapport.the elements of connection must be solid before I could comfortably establish trust.

Yes. Because people never portray themselves to be different online.

Usually something in their profile like they are mad about something I just couldn't share their passion for ( 3 matches I checked out today were crazy about kayaks - is this a new craze??). Mostly cos of their age cos younger guys looking for a proper relationship rather than a sexual encounter will more than likely expect the patter of tiny feet at some point and I'm unable to help there laugh

Oh and I've really liked the look of someone and felt an attraction but one glance at their user name involving a hint at their sexual preferences just turns me right off.

And another thing...I'd rather not see a guy topless unless it's in the flesh in the privacy of the bedroom or on the beach. Please just wear jeans and a T shirt and keep it real.

And of course if we are honest we are nervous some guys are just too pretty for us blushing

Yeah, as Madcat says, anything that strongly suggests that they aren't looking for me.

The ironically amusing stuff, are all the things that lots of people assume everyone DOES want, but that means "no way" to me. People who want to lead a very active nightlife, and want to travel, have a full schedule of energetic activities all the time. That sort of thing.

Then there's the various "code phrases," that let me know that I'm not SOMETHING enough. Classics include "looking for a professional man," or the old version that doesn't seem to be in vogue now "looking for a man who really knows how to show a woman a good time," which of course means the guy has to make a lot more money than I do.

There are other standard or common "code phrases" that mean other things. I know that probably some people don't realize they are saying what they are saying, but frankly, it usually isn't worth the time to test.
