A while ago, my taskbar has malfunctioned lol. The "start" button in the bottom left corner doesn't work, as to bring up the programs, go to documents, my computer, ect. The volume control doesn't work properly, like if I click on it, the little bar to adjust doesn't come up. I have to right click it and tell it to open volume manager... any suggestions on the fix? I've tried using reg cleaners, general cleaners, virus scan and so on. Out of ideas lol

Yes I have restore points to prior times of this happening. But hate restoring and possibly loosing anything gained or done in the mean time lol. Was hopefully looking for a possible fix to it lol.

Very true, that didn't cross my mind lol. Thanks for the suggestion lol. Never really did much backing up, as I probably should lol. But anyways, I'm assuming it compresses the files when it backs them up? Because I don't have anywhere for a 200gb back up lol.

lol not a baby, just a disabled man with low income lol. Just gotta find my USB adapter for an external hard drive and use one of my spare hard drives to back it up on if I go that route... just know there's gotta be a "fix" for whatever caused the problem, rather then going back.... because I didn't do anything specific to cause the problem, just woke up one morning, turned the comp on, and bam couldn't get to the start menu lol... but alls well :) maybe someone will have a "fix" for it... if I'm not mistaken, windows 10 has a feature like a "fix windows" program. That fixes corrupt system files and what not.... if anyone knows where that is even if you don't know if that would fix the problem, wanna try it and would be very much appreciated.

First I'd recommend not using 10, its the worst version ever. If you really want to go to 10 and knowing your circumstances(not wanting format option or losing files) I would suggest you go back to windows 7(or 8 if that is what you had)and then try re-installing 10.
There is a small window(no pun intended)of how long you have before you can go back to previous version. If it has been too long since your installation of 10 there are still ways to go back to previous version without losing everything, but its a little more complicated to post here.
Good luck

No worries, I understand. And no worries about that, because I can always "restore" the comp in dos to it's original factory settings and what not... which was 7. But have gotten to kinda like 10... so gonna wait and see if anyone has any kind of knowledge/history experience or anything on such. As through my internet searches, namely to sell you crap and what not lol, but through those searches seems to be a fairly often happening problem with the task bar acting up as it has in 10. So gonna continue to search and what not... only downfall atm is can't use the "start menu" but there's various ways around doing different things. Can still right click the menu and get to control panel and what not. :). Just aggravating lol.

Hiya CowboyGH,

A quick search reveals that lots of people had the same/similar issues as you are facing...

https://www.google.co.uk/search?client=opera&q=Help+Windows+10+taskbar&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#q=reset+windows+10+taskbar

Maybe one of their resolutions could help you too?

Good luck.

EDIT:
Tried to paste the link without the S in HTTPS but it breaks the link :(

Thank you, will check the link. And yes I have seen through my personal investigation it's a fairly common problem as why I posted here hoping someone had that similar problem prior and knew how to resolve it lol.

Problem solved :)

Unfortunately gotta reinstall all the programs and software I had on the comp lol.. but luckily it kept my documents pictures, music, and what not.

In the start page before you log into the comp... The little option in the bottom right corner that lets you restart, shut down, and hibernate. I held the shift key and then clicked restart. It then will restart, but restart the entire computer reinstalling windows 10 back to fresh... thus why I have to reinstall all the apps and what not again lol.

Just thought I'd mention the way it was resolved for if anyone else has or experiences this with their own computer. As it seems to be a fairly common "bug" in windows 10 I've read in my searches of finding the solution.
