I look at it this way. In all my past relationships I have loved and given a lot of myself in each one. When they have ended I look back and truly believe that they were not failures. They are my history. And I like that. I haven't become jaded thinking that love is something that will never happen. And I really like that. And all this tells me that I have not given up on being in love. I call that progress. 
Very well said Goofball!  I agree with what you said 100% the best lesson in life is knowing what love is all about. That even after what you have been through in life , your heart has never hardened but rather take each lessons you learned to become a better person and continue to have faith that love is everywhere, in everything and ever present. For everything and every actions , what inspires us is the love in our hearts. We are all a work in progress driven by love that's bestowed upon us by our Creator

I don't easily fall in love but I know for sure I did this last time. You just feel it. I don't think a million lessons is going to bring you to a higher state of love. Hi Candi 
I think alot of people would agree with you that there is no tangible measurement for growing in the capacity to love. Like you, for them, the growth is just a feeling they get. For others its a tangible growth in terms of behavior whether that means making smarter choices in love or learning to give more of oneself to a relationship, or communicate better etc. Different strokes for different folks |

Many of us have been through several broken relationships , and take pride in all the lessons we feel that we have learned ... ...until the next relationship may fall apart, and the learning cycle starts all over again. So how do you measure YOUR growth in love? Degrees and other academia are mostly set in stone and learned with a certain ammount of savvy. Humans are much more complicated and I personally think there's no way to measure love growth. You can learn and a lot of people do pass the love test, couples who have a long and happy marriage for instance. Which make me wonder, will I ever get my doctorate in love, or will I just keep learning about it until the alrm bell goes to end the exam and I die. |

To be honest Peggy I don't, every relationship is different with new sets of issues and challenges. What I try to do in life in general is to just listen to what someone has to say, most of the time people just want to be heard and acknowledged and I fall into that category myself.

I can only think that the greatest gift / accolade you can receive is wisdom. You gain the wisdom to recognize and deter yourself from that same pain and heartache. And no one who has lived and loss can be the same as they were prior to it. That's impossible...
