Paul was the Libertarian Party candidate for president before and still has a strong following among libertarians. Essentially his point is the government should stay out of social issues, limited involvement in the economy, and almost an isolationist foreign policy. While it does not seem to agree with what one would think a Republican stands for it is in line with many libertarian voters who traditionally voted for Republicans if they were to vote for a major party candidate. But in recent years Republicans have advocated positions that are not popular with many libertarians including Paul (Patriot Act, the War, wire tapping) so it is not a surprise that Paul is raising money and making some news in the race.

I say that not was a libertarian or a Republican but I do find Paul and his campaign quite interesting in terms of the 2008 field and also in view of the direction of the Republican Party.

Same idiot as I was supporting in 2007, 2006 & 2005 ... ME!

The only one I think could be of any use to y'all is Fred Thomson.

His only problem is that he cant make his mind up and stick to it ..

and his late entry has hampered his thieving abilities (sorry .. campaigning for funds)

He is a much better mouthpiece than most of the candidates, and at the moment you need a better front man to repair the damage that Coco the current clown as caused.

After all, do presidents really make policy? No, of course not. your congress and your real back-room politicians make policy, so why not get yourself a showman, to prove that the comedy, that is the US foreign policy, can become a serious issue.

You never know, he might just get you out of the housing slump y'all are struggling with.

paul's
answer to that isolationist question on

the tonight show was

something like

not an isolationist per say

we should have world trade and things*

*(he did not use the word things i just do not remember exact wording)

with other countries

but we should not be the police force of the world

------

and almost an isolationist foreign policy== not sure this is a fair statement other than in a military sense

Isolationist does not mean a lack of trade or diplomacy but little to nothing in terms of international agreements. Even when we had a more isolationist foreign policy in this nation we still had trade with other nations as well as kept up international relations. But Paul advocates the cutting off of foreign aid, little in the way of trade agreements (open all markets to the free market) so it is more than just a military side to this. He is not a full isolationist hence why I said almost but he is very close to one on a number of issues.

It is time for a third party candidate...and he can win if all the people that have bought into the mainstream mantra would just vote their conscience...all the garbage about wasted votes...or pulling votes away from this one getting this one elected...it's all nonsense...

Ron Paul is gaining momentum...people should pay attention & watch less television...

Never will I vote Ron Paul! He wants to eliminate the Department of health and education and make abortions illegal!

Many other reasons exist, but those are plenty!

Dragoness, if Hillary wins the democratic nomination we will have another Republican President!

Hillary cant win. This election like most will be decided on the ndependent vote! The reb will vote Replican. The Democrats will vote democrat and the independents will vote, in their opinions, for the better candidate!

Hillary can not win, she is a sell-out and a corporate lacky! Too much of the same old same old and we cant stand anymore of that! Plus shes weak and wishy washy!!

A real frigging bleeding heart!!grumble grumble noway noway

before you cast your vote perhaps you should wait till the cnadidates have been selected because if your favorite son don't get the nomination, it won't make any difference if you back him or her. Of course, if we listen to some of you the elections won't happen anyway, GWB is going to declare a military dictatorship and take over anyway. laugh

I was told that Hilary Clinton was having an affair with someone, and they killed him, and dumped him in Central Park. Is this true? It came from a father of a x CIA agent who spends lots of time in the bar, the father not the agent, across the street from where I live. Oakshi1t Bar.

I want the facts before I make my decision. Is there any candidate that keeps his pants or skirts down with thongs on, while defending this country?
And so why are people having sex when they should be doing their paperwork, reducing inflation, lowering gas/food prices, and bringing our men home from war. Yes, I do care about all of the above.noway
And in Washington state, the predictor is that gas will soon be $4 a gallon. So I went right to the pump and asked it why gas was so high, and the people that run the place, said price of the barrel my dear when it gets here. My dear my asp.noway

Did someone say that a candidate would make abortions illegal? Are you f-n kidding me? That is what is wrong with uneducated voters who vote on issues that have already been decided in the supreme court... and that goes for those for and/or against abortion. Wake up Americans and stop voting on non-issues. Roe vs. Wade is pretty much a done deal!
