Topic: Is there a mingle search? | |
---|---|
seriously here
I have seen responses in the threads that include links to something a poster said in the past are people keeping personal logs to refer to? or is there a search option here that lets you look for posts by topic and posters name? I mean, people assume I spend alot of time because I have many posts over seven years,,,,when I just happen to be a quick typist, but I really dont hold on to the posts and I imagine that takes time to do as well,,, unless there is a mingle search option that I was unaware of? |

one must search through pages of a posters entries to find said thread and said post Msh...I have pretty good memory....I can remember posts and the threads they're on if they interest me. Finding them really doesn't take all that long if I'm determined....not that it happens that much.
A search function would be easier though....I've used them with great success on other sites. It would help when info comes that can update a thread story that happened, say, a few months ago....although, I can still find them fairly quickly... even if they were many months ago (I've only been posting here a Lil over a year so I can't say years yet lol)....just skip ahead pages in that section....can take as little as a few minutes. |

Nah.. Some people just have really, really good memory.
Yeeeaahh, actually, most people have very selective memories, distorted by what they were thinking about at the time, and by whatever they've been through before, and whatever they are upset about. I see people misremembering each other all the time here. Often even right after they SAY they just read their posts. And I majored in the study of History, wherein we CONSTANTLY find that even the greatest people who have ever lived, who are as honest as the day is long, still managed to completely screw up their recollections of what they lived through. So I'm not inclined to trust anyone who THINKS their memory is all that great. |

lol,,,
whats great about having a not so great memory is it makes lying so much MORE unattractive liars have to remember their lies , I cant be bothered,,lol |

If you find it don't let me know because I am sure I have contradicted myself a million times on mingle.

whats great about having a not so great memory is it makes lying so much MORE unattractive
Having poor memory makes lying more effective. 1. It makes it easier to believe the lie. A lie is more convincing if the person telling it believes it to be true. If they can't remember what really happened, it's easier for them to believe their own lie. I reject your reality and substitute my own. 2. Poor memory usually means poor attention spans. If the person hearing the lie has a poor memory, they usually don't want to put in the effort required to prove the lie. At best they might feel it's a lie. Then they'll go off and look for information that proves how they feel to be correct. And that leaves them wide open for confirmation bias. Easily creating another lie while not really disproving the other lie. liars have to remember their lies
Not really. They just need you to not remember where the proof is that proves it's a lie. Unless you can absolutely unequivocally prove it's a lie, then it's not a lie. If you call someone a liar without irrefutable evidence that it's a lie, then you're the bad guy. Ask any Clinton. Not so great memory helps promulgate lies. |

wow
ok. for clarification,, when I say lie, I am referring to deception if one believes what they are saying to be true , that is not the 'deception' I am referring to and taking the risk of hoping the listener has a short memory is also something not so appealing,, to me anyhow |
