I'm a single mum to a 7 year old..
Obviously any parent is going to find it hard to trust somebody around there child.
I'm not looking for a farther... I'm Looking for a partner for myself. Seems such hard work. Maybe I'm just to picky but at the same time just want the right guy...

work on your own self-awareness for a while....a mentor of mine told me that

once i got to make friends with and get to know myself that i would make better

choices....i new it was true be cause it was coming from such a loving

place....all relationships are work with ups and downs just like with

our children.....good luck.....smile2 p.s. its not impossible...

You are right to be cautious.

Many men will use your child as a reason to not get to know you or care about you. Don't think that is the real reason. High percentage are the one-liner "Hey baby" crew.

Keep active and busy doing social things like museums, parks, family friendly events..free or as many as you can afford.

It will sound corny but like yourself...love yourself. Get comfortable being "alone". A real man will come along and be drawn to your self-confidence. Show off your maturity and responsibility as a mother.

Good luck.

I am with you. I have two kids, and this IS hard, especially finding the right balance between kids, myself and a potential partner.

Just make sure to keep the kids away from guys.

That's what all the women I have dated seem to do. I'm not sure why but it seems to work.

You have to be picky when you have kids involved. While you don't really need a father figure, they most likely will be one if they are a decent man. Don't risk your child for the sake of a companion for you. It will take time to trust and you will know if they are genuine in how they treat your child and if you can trust them. If you see any red flags, error to the side of protecting your kids.

where children are concerned, one cant be too picky

I feel the same,,,I want someone who can/will love my child as his own,, and who can be openly affectionate,, ,but then I am also nervous about the prospects of knowing the appropriate 'level' of affection

I think Id just have to watch him with his own kids to gauge appropriateness
