Do you think a person could be single for so long that they become comfortable being single, they have deceived themselves into thinking.. They are just being selective. when in reality many a fine opportunity has passed them by...?

Yeppiers and I'm most likely a fine example of that....

I have been single for so long that I'm comfortable on my own..Sure it would be nice to have someone around, but not looking. Nor care for all the drama that goes with it..whoa

But I can't say that anyone I have met so far was so good I passed them by... If they were that good I would not have ignored them..

Even though I'm a bit selective when I see those flags start hitting I start backing away.....scared

The older I get the less bs I will put up with...whoa

As many people wander by them on a given day, there are always connection possibilities..how open are their eyes though?

IMO no.

It doesn't come from being "single for so long..."

IMO people are driven by whatever problems they have.
Those perpetuate being single.
Failures with dating or forming romantic relationships simply justify the continual perpetuation of negative emotions, lack of esteem, too much fear, fear of change, self loathing, whatever.

They've deceived themselves, which leads to being single for so long.
They aren't single for so long that it then creates this new problem.

IMO little different than someone that gorges themselves on fast food and twinkies and then when they get fat, out of shape, and have health issues, asks "is subsisting on fast food and twinkies causing my esteem issues?"

At best when they start with the "I'm just being selective," it's just a means of covering up "I don't want to face my real problems, take responsibility, or change. I'm not bad for what I'm not doing, I'm good for what I am doing. Since I'm good, I don't need to really question things. It's someone else's fault. I'm just going to keep doing it."

in reality many a fine opportunity has passed them by

Every moment of your life is an opportunity.

I don't mind being isolated, the only downside is that you develop Cabin Fever.. you get so used to talking to yourself that you forget to stop talking to yourself when you're out in public...lol.... really kills your chances with the ladies...lmao

I have done this myself.
But WalMart employees are trained to absorb the guilt.
They probably start talking to themselves to make you feel better.

Now that the whole Transgender bathroom law is out, I am going to go into a ladies restroom dressed as a man and tell them I am just confused......and why won't Steve talk to me?.....and do these jeans make my butt look too big? I am all about the community.

I do think they become confortable being single. I have.
I am not one who is ususally without a partner, but seem to be more selective after a few bombs of meet n greets. And am getting used to it. It is a bunch of drama, hassle, among other things. It doesn't take much for me to find a flaw or two and cut the cord quick. Not saying I am without flaws, oh heck no! whoa
But if the chemistry isn't strong enough or I am not physically attracted to them from the get go, I give.
I might have passed on some opportunity's, but couldn't see myself with them for an LTR because of the few even little flaws or habits would turn into mountains after time.
I yam what I yam! I pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today!!
