I'm a Jackwad.

I was just driving home, patted my pocket and panicked about my keys for a second.....until I looked down at the ignition.

No, I am sober. I laughed and made my way home.

You're a jackwad too, right? Any stories?

 Now I've never been quite that bad, but not long ago I was running late for work, as soon as I locked the front door, I knew my keys were on the hook in kitchen. I call myself a dipsh%t instead. Had to get the manager to break in for me.
I also have managed to fall up the stairs a few times oops but getting better.

Several years ago I was on my way home from work during a snowstorm when I came across a small car in the ditch. I got out and made sure they were okay, then a few minutes later young lad with a 4X4 pickup stopped and offered to help pull her out. It took the two of us about 20min to get her back on the road and to check over the car to make sure it was okay to drive, the whole time with icy snow blasting away at us. Waved goodbye, everyone rolled away and I went back to get into my Jeep, only to find out the doors were locked. I must have accidentally hit the power door lock button on the way out.

So now I'm standing there in a full on blizzard, looking in at my dog who was sitting all warm and comfy in the passenger seat. There was no more traffic on the road, so I called the wife (now ex-wife) and asked her to bring my spare key. Then I occupied myself by trying to teach the dog a new trick; how to open the car door from the inside. It didn't go well. It took the ex an hour to show up because the roads were so bad (normally was a 20min drive) and I was almost hypothermic by the time she got there. I sat there for about 10min with the heater on full before I had stopped shaking enough so that I could drive home.

And ever since then, every single time I get out of the Jeep, I make sure the key is in my pocket first and take great care not to lock the door until I am standing outside and have verified that the key is in my pocket. embarassed

Is a jackwad an idiot?
My car has a FOB, as opposed to 'keys'.. when leaving my car I put the fob in my jacket pocket. At the place I was at, I put my jacket on a chair.. later I sat on that chair, but the pocket with the fob was placed such that I must have hit the fob with my butt or something.. next thing I hear is my car horn blasting off... and me thinking 'what idiot is that?'.. lots of people in the place probably thinking the same thing... took me just a couple minutes to realize it was me! my bad.
