I wrote this some time back, thinking about my mother and what she had to go through. she was young when she got pg with me. am a man n I can't get close to imagining what it's like to bring up a child on your own after the dad dumps you,,, I can only imagine....n I put it into words.
God Bless all Single moms here and out there.

Here I am again, trying to put into words the mind of a young mother,
Could be you, your friend, your sister or your mother raising a child without its father.
Probably sitted out there on a couch or in a coffee plantation with a kid strapped to her back,
Maybe lacking nothing….physically, or wasting to bits that the child may not lack,
Wishing she could take everything back to where it started,
To right her wrongs….to unwalk the path she walked…….uncharted.
To free herself of his chains and the pain birthed by his feign,
To have just one more chance to make that decision again,
A chance to make things right, to stand her ground for once, a chance to choose her own path,
To fight for what she believes in till what her heart set out for hath.
Not to be here wishing that the child never grows up to make the same mistakes.
That it never has to go through such heart breaks, such pains and aches.
How could she have been so blinded by love? Were there no clues or did she just ignore them?
Closed off to reality and willingly chose his fantasies over her dreams….lost her right to condemn.
When the child grows up and asks about him, will she have the courage to tell the truth?
If she had to do it again, what would she do different?
Would she make better choices with as much commitment?
What about him, does he ever think about it? The words he said that night?
Was any of them true? Did he walk away just for spite?
The look he wore when he cuddled her to his chest,
That moment of bliss when love seemed at its best
The promises he made…… did any of it ever mean anything to him?
Was any part of their time together real?....What drove his whim?
Does he ever miss her…them, or did he just move on?
Forgot about them and just like that……gone.

Abandoned

Promises, commitment, meant nothing, meaningless;
Passion and desire, blinded, price, heart break;
Promises, intent, bedding, baby, gone, Deadbeat father;
Sleepless nights, limited income, raising child, No father.

Indeed, God bless single mothers. I had cousins who were one of these girls after being pregnant abandoned by the one they love. I salute them for they choose life than abortion. They strive to raised their child in their own hardwork. It's hard to be a single parent, it's hard to raise a child alone, it's harder when you had no work at all. The pain when the father leaves, the pain when people ridiculed and judged you, the pain of childbirth with no one to stand beside you, the pain of raising your child without a father. The pain when your child cried because he was being bullied at school because he has no father. It's an everyday pain for a single mother. Worst pain that folds 10x when her child cried asking about his father. The one who abandoned them. :( It's a hard life, God bless single mothers.

But still, the strong one's bring you up real good, even better than you'd have been with your old man around
