me personally, I'd rather email back and forth for awhile, until I feel like I know the person. Also because I have a three year old and heaven forbid if I talk on the phone, the world might come to an end in her eyes...

i get way too many views, limited emails, and have only talked to a very few on the telephone

I talk email or instant messenger then after a while will communicate by phone. But i always use a cell phone.
