Today I cried
Not because someone had died but for the wretchedness I feel inside All around I look and see pictures of youths' lost destiny I hear music with warped melodies not very pleasant to attach to my memories Abuse of women sung lustily by rappers who rake in cash so greedily What chance do our children have today when vulgarity is so openly put on display Today I cried Not because someone had died but for the wretchedness I feel inside For hearing the news I feel aggrieved Of schools that have become killing fields In my youth I remembered attending school where courtesy and learning were the golden rules Good manners were taught and we all learnt That respect for others was given and returned We addressed our peers as ma'am or sir To be called a b!tch by a child is absurd Respect for the Bobby we were proud and calling a man of the law a pig was not allowed You listened to your teachers attentively They knew what was best for you and me Today I cried Not because someone had died but for the wretchedness I feel inside Unborn babies cast aside by the dozens All because youngsters went along for "the ride" Looking around it is plain to see innocence lost in a sea of iniquity Watching our children "chase the dragon" Drugs, the divider in families and of society Self respect has been buried in all quarters and weed has now become the new master Today I cried Not because someone had died but for the wretchedness I feel inside Political correctness has become a travesty simple words now has it's own dichotomy Being gay no longer applies to being in a happy state Our language has changed at an alarming rate A chairman ceases to exist, now it's a chairperson they insist Today I cried It is because someone has died So many countless men and women perished Leaving behind the ones they had cherished In wars of diseases they fought valiantly Guns and bullets they faced relentlessly Some were sent to fight in a war described as the fight of freedom of you and me But the greed for oil is the sacrifice of these souls lost so needlessly Today I cried Not because someone had died But because of our way of life has declined God no longer seems to be the head Anger and anarchy reigns instead Looking around I see the greed of those wishing to succeed from the misery of others Unscheduled wars mean stealing children from their mothers What examples are our leaders setting when the oath they took to lead and protect us is forgotten Today I cried My tears seems to have been wasted For this dysfunctional society I have tasted Tell me world, the destruction I have seen and my wishes for peace and the way things could have been just a figment of my imagination Or is this the true picture of the future of our nation Bonny 29/10/07 |

Today I cried because my mother is dying,
Not to mention the fact that my ex husband is lying. It is tragic that my 8 years of marrige is broken over vows he could not keep It is awful that my sons (3yo and 7yo ) sit and weep I view this as timing for me to be back in my childhood home That my children get an experience because my husband chose to roam They get to see thier Grandma before her last day And I can only hope for the best step dad before I lay In my mom's position in her last dying days |

Kimmie205, first off, welcome to the site. Sorry to hear of your mum. As for your husband not keeping his vows, well society seems to be readily accepting of children from broken homes, a case of moving the goal posts. I am not in agreement with children being raised by one parent but in some cases it is better to have one stable parent that two who fight and argue thereby disrupting their children's stability. BTW, I am a single parent and have been for the past 18 years. Good luck to you
