I've heard this saying "believe in yourself" severally from people. Please I wish to know.

What's so special in us greater than God?

Are we to believe in ourselves or in God?

Dear son Toks, one week ago for the first time in my 60 years, someone said it to me, for I was in deep depression. It hit my mind and hit my heart. At the same moment I felt stronger, yes. Thanks be to God!

"Believe in yourself" doesn't mean, believe in yourself and forget about God. NO! It means, believe in yourself, because you are made in the image of God. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Oh, yes, I am perfectly made. I have competence, talents, intelligence, self discipline and so on. And I have Jesus. So what? Yes, I believe in myself.

Surely, we are wonderfully made. And I thought of that when I was about to post the topic. And from your reply I can see people say it to another to equip, to build up, and to encourage in hardtimes and it's wonderful. I'm so glad you were quickened by that in the time of depression.
In everything, God is the head and He cares for us. 1 Peter 5:7.
