if people didn't decide right and wrong there would be far fewer pundits and political or religious threads attacking strangers for their beliefs, words, or actions

of course people have some defining standards of right and wrong,, but how those come to be defined for them is another matter

I totally agree Ms Harmony.

The attacks on those threads speak of very strong convictions that people have over what they perceive to be right or wrong

Although religion can be a good starting point to build a foundation of morels on, there are a lot of people that twist the words of their scriptures to say what they want it to say. As for myself, I try to look at life subjectively because there are three sides to every story, mine, yours and the real truth which hopefully is somewhere in the middle. That being said when ever I am faced with a choice I try to take a moment and think "how would I feel if someone else was making the choice and I got the short end in the deal?" Needless to say there have been many time that I have taken the shaft rather than letting someone that I didn't even know get stuck with it, and I'm sure there are a few people out there that are going to call BS. All I can say to that is it makes no difference if you believe me or not, because I do my best to live by the golden rule and I try not to do things to others that I wouldn't want done to me.

And that is my definition of right and wrong.

Of course, many times there are so many elements involved in any given situation that create a much more complex dynamic than any polarized black/white, right/wrong, or good/evil "quick & obvious" answer can supply.
However if I try to attempt to adhere to the following concepts to the best of my ability, one can only try to do the best that one can.
1]-The Wiccan Rede["Do what you will, so long as it harms none"]
The basic principles of The Rede imply the Golden Rule in the belief that the spirit of the Rede is to actively do good for one's fellow humans as well as for oneself. In essence, the Rede can be fully understood as meaning that one should always follow their true will instead of trying to obtain simple wants and to ensure that following one's will does not harm anyone or anything. In this light, the Rede can be seen as encouraging a Wiccan to take personal responsibility for his or her actions.
&
2]-Be True to your word & be true to what your own heart & mind tell you Is Right Action as outlined in the definition of -"Higher Law". Higher Law: "an ethical or religious principle considered as taking precedence over the laws of society, and to which one may appeal in order to justify disobedience to a constitution or enacted law with which it conflicts.
