I raised Shetland Sheep dogs for 25 years.
13 years ago I got a toy poodle and I am still amazed at how smart she is
tough little thing love to swim in the waters up here that most won't.
She is high energy still loveable smart..stubborn..

Yeah my best bestest friend in the world..
Even keep her picture on my profile...lol

I know its not a true breed but I had a Akita / German Shepard dog .. all white..for 14 years... LOVED that dog. I cried like a baby when I had to put him down.

He loved his family.. loved kids... but God forbid a stranger tried to get to close to the house.

Best house security system I ever had.
Awesome Akita's were Chinese Bear dogs and they are fiercely protective of their "pack"

Chinese Crested hairless. Best dog all around. Loving, loyal, smart and obedient. Way better than any boyfriend I ever had, lol.

An Italian Greyhound wandered into my yard once, didn't even have a collar...what a beautiful breed. Had him for a few days till I found out it was a new pup for one of my neighbors.

* Canadian Eskimo, way to much wild blood for most people. Sparky was never off a leash his whole life. Security dogs would cautionary back away from him. Sit beside him and he would get-up and move to a private location. Pat him haha!the fangs would show (his way of showing joy?) haha!
* Sparky did have a sense of humor, strange as it was.

** Canadian Eskimo's are not recommended to be around people...EVER!
** Cats, Dogs, Raccoons, squirrels, mice, deer, and so forth, THEY EAT !!

"they were often required to forage and hunt for their own food"

I've had many dogs through the years some mutts and many breeds. My favorite was my Rottweilers. Very smart great with kids. Obedient. Currently I have a dachshund and a American pit bull. Both great dogs. Very different personalities. Lol. The little guy thinks he's big. The big guy wants to be in my lap.
