In March, I am headed to Orlando, Florida for a work convention. My first time on a plane
I have LOTS o questions....but will simply start with one and if ya'll would be so kind as to give me some suggestions of do's and don'ts. I have borrowed a couple of outfits from a friend and this friend partakes of the marijuana from time to time and the clothes have that stench. Wouldn't this be an issue at the airport? Also, I know to ask many, many questions about bombs an such. |

Pack your own bag
Make sure it is sealed tight eg use a little padlock. Dry clean the clothes before you go Do s list of what you need first above everything. |

Yes, it will be an issue at the airport. They will probably roll you trying to find a fat joint :-) Kidding, I have never actually smelled it on someone's clothes beyond a moment or two. You could toss them in the dryer with a dryer sheet like Bounce on 'no heat' and I bet the odor would disappear. |

two suggestions...
1.get a seat toward the front of the plane, that way you board first(have lots of space in overheard for carry-on) and you get off the plane quickly without waiting forever so everyone else can get off. 2. get a window seat so you don't have people climbing over you to go to the bathroom etc. (also good for seeing the scenery since you haven't flown before) |

If you are going through an airport where they run dogs through the checked baggage, and Orlando is probably one of them, if you can smell it, the dogs are going to pick it out a mile away. This may cause you some problems, from delays to getting your bags at checkout to being pulled out to answer some "questions" as to what's in your bag. So yes get the clothes cleaned.
Wear something with enough pockets to put tickets etc into. Take a small carry on bag with stuff you may need right away if your checked bag gets lost or delayed; Toothbrush, a sweater, any meds you take, things like that, within the TSA regs for liquids etc. Get there in plenty of time to allow for TSA screening finding your way around and maybe a cocktail. Follow the signs and enjoy the flight. |

YES...this is why I am asking! I mean, it IS simply the smoke-smell...NOT raw material, but I certainly don't want to get "rolled" or "dog-nose-to-the-crotch". |

If the clothes are dry clean only then yes, have them dry cleaned. If they are washable then oddly enough a 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar in your rinse water will take out just about any odor and won't make them smell like vinegar.
The tips about a window seat, close to the front of the plane are great tips. I would also bring gum for when your ears pop. |

Had a great flight to and from Florida!! Here in Indy the baggage check was done in seconds and the security line was minimal. However, the baggage check in florida was horrendous. Security line in florida was much longer, but not bad at all.
A little tip....if you don't want to wait in check-in line (and you already have pre-printed boarding pass), find one o those guys with the baggage carts and tip him a twenty, he will get your baggage checked and on your way to the security line in a minute or two!! The flight itself each time was pretty good too. A lot of peeps told me that they didn't like take-off or landing. When the wheels leave the ground or touch the ground...but I actually felt those parts were interesting. I am not a fan of the pressure differences throughout the flight. All in all a very nice first-time experience |
