Messy room selfies. Subtle hint your life isn't in order.
Photos scanned from your high school year book from way back when. Ditch the sunglasses, unless they're permanently attached to your face. |

I haven't really looked at many profiles here yet. The few that I have seen that are peeves fall into like three ranges.
1> The Scammer 2> The Hurt One 3> The Delusional The Scammer is pretty easy to identify and I don't even think about them, just move on. The Hurt One has substantial explanations of conditions they cannot tolerate; list a lot of negatives; use emotionally charged words or a wide range of identifiers that make me think they are hurting in some way. The Delusional are the ones that really get me. These people actually believe they are going to find "true love" "soul mate" or "their last best love" on a free dating site. They ask for "someone to complete me" and express a wide range of needs and wants. Reality dictates that this site is just a tool to try to find someone special that might possibly be a love interest (If that is what you're looking for). I know what I am looking for in a potential person of interest. I look for those qualities in their profile first then I message them to get to know them better. I'm not looking for a needy or greedy person to share my time. I don't want to "fix" anyone nor should I need to even think about it. I want someone that has their act together already. I do have a photo peeve that irritates me ~ pictures that are not accurate. I have met 3 women from online dating sites in the past and not one looked like their picture. Every single one was much older. I did not choose them for being pretty. My interest in their photos are for determining if they have the features and symmetry that is appealing to me. I know that human bodies age with time. We all sag, lose curvature, get wrinkles and lines. My age range pretty much covers menopause and older. Your picture should look accurate for your age and be current. If I can't recognize you when we meet it is the same as lying. I will not tolerate liars. One last thing. It isn't about peeves on profiles. It is about this thread. I've learned that if you complain about a thing you should also offer a solution. This thread would be much better if for every peeve we included a positive. Why exist in a negative world? Here is a positive: I like profiles that indicate a person has looked at and evaluated themselves. They know why they are here at an online dating site. They relate things about themselves knowing that a potential suitor would want this information to make an accurate decision on whether to contact them or not. |

I know this has been on here before, but a bathroom photo is a real turn off. Worse than that is a public bathroom. Everyone can tell that. What would make a person go into a public restroom and think, hmmm. This is a good place to take a selfie. I think I'll put this on my dating site.

Interesting that many of the dislikes are found in both men's and women's profiles. One that is usually only found in women's profiles is:
"I love to Laugh". |

My kids are my world and come before anything else.
I'd be horrified if they were not. |

What I'm on the look out for the most is their grammatical structure.
