interesting and provoking announcement interesting huh good for her |

After reading the seventh book, this makes sense. I guess I assumed that there might have been a relationship between him and McGonagal, but Dumbledore being homosexual makes sense in light of the seventh book.

Hmmm..... yeah I can see - just barely, mind you - how this could be considered a 'current event'.
Hell, Paris Hilton drama was considered a current event. |

well the announcement was going on all day
i think i first heard it at about 9 am the 22nd and many times since also again just b4 i posted this and it was on many channels if it is happening in now time it is a current event there have been outrage and support for this mentioned on many of the reports and if you read the first post it is about the announcement not about the book so yes it is a current event |

Adj - The outrage and the support - as social phenomena whose surrounding dialogue could impact policies - definitely qualifies as news, in my book.

well the ironic thing is
she says she sees him as being gay she did not say he is gay so whatever her motives (if any) she has not said anything as fact so the social uproar by those complaining is the thought in their own mind so basically she has begun a discussion by saying nothing but her opinion and if in doing so she brings the least bit of a drop in discrimination because of it i think it is great but maybe she should not judge the headmaster (book) by its cover i find it amusing that such a ruckus is being made over how she sees him good for her |

"i find it amusing that such a ruckus is being made over"
Absolutely! I thought the increase in appearances of normal openly gay characters on network television a while back meant the end to this sillines might be right around the corner. |

Good for her! Why the hell, not?! I think that it was unnecessary to make him gay, but stupid, closeminded people, are so easily aroused. And it's a good point, that she didn't officially make him gay. Considering now that the series is done, no more stories are going to be written in which his sexual preference will make any difference at all. Having such a beloved character like him, turn out gay after the fact definitely is good PR for the Gay Cause though, so to speak. I'm not gay, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the humor in riling up a bunch of bigots, just to laugh at them when they react, so predictably. I suppose she might not of had that intention herself, but it amounted to the same thing. Bravo

I think it was good of her to say so...
I wondered if she was thinking of the gay children or children of gay families who were readers and wanted to make them feel more included... who knows but it seems like it has sparked some lively debate... Trader- I agree it seems it should be unnecesary by now but you are in Cali... in the midwest and the south etc. many places it is still a huge big deal to be gay or in an inter racial relationship, etc. |
