Mom: Teacher made 4-year-old unclog toilet with his hands

PALM COAST, Fla., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A Florida mother said her 4-year-old son's pre-k teacher made him unclog a toilet with his bare hands after he went "No. 1 and No. 2."

Tiffany Huffman said her son, a prekindergarten student at Rymfire Elementary School in Palm Coast, was forced to use his bare hands to unclog a toilet Nov. 30 by a teacher who accused him of using too much tissue.

"The teacher said he used too much toilet paper and made him reach his hand in the toilet and grab out the toilet paper with his bare hands. He felt like people were watching him have to do this. He was humiliated," Huffman told WKMG-TV.

"He had just got done going No. 1 and No. 2," she told WESH-TV. "All that was in the toilet, whatever, he had to do that barehanded."

Huffman said the teacher admitted to the incident but told her the toilet was clean. The mother said she was not reassured.

"It's endangering his health. I realized afterwards that there was cuts on his hands but like the bacteria, anything could set in on those cuts," she said.

Huffman said her son told her he didn't wash his hands after the incident.

Flagler County School District released a statement saying officials are aware of Huffman's complaint.

"We take these allegations seriously... an investigation was immediately launched."

The punishment may seen unusual but it is not unique -- Jennifer King Forshey, 58, a teacher at Broward Community Charter School in Coral Springs, Fla., was charged with battery on a child last year after she admitted to ordering a 10-year-old student to remove urine-soaked paper towels from a urinal with his bare hands.

The Flager County School District released a statement to say an investigation is underway and has offered to put the boy in a different class, but to do so would require another child to be transferred into the classroom he vacates.

Hoffman didn't find the exchange fair to the other child, saying it wouldn't solve the problem: the teacher.

"If you'll make your own child do something that horrific, why would we be putting our children in your care?" Hoffman asked.

Huffman has since removed her son from the school and continues to share the horror story.

Brent Taylor, a teacher at Scootney Springs Elementary in Othello, Wash., was given a warning and ordered to review a hygiene safety course in December 2014 after he admitted to ordering a third-grade student to unclog a toilet with his hands.

After doing a search I found this has been in the news for 4 days. And I found 3 cases in less than a year. The 4 yr old & 8 yrs old & a 10 yr old. ALL forced by TEACHERS.
There are also YouTube news clips of each case.
There is even a video of a adult unclogging a toilet with his bare hands (2014) to show how disgusting it truly is.

It's the kids own waste.

It's not like it was some random strange homeless guys waste.

The kids mom spent months to years dealing with his waste, we've probably got a pile of full diapers slowly degrading in a landfill over the next 100+ years thanks to him, but he's too good to clean up or solve his own mess?

Did no one read "everybody poops?"
Is it "everyone poops and it's disgusting and you should pretend like it's not your own mess and get someone from a lower caste to deal with it?"

Touching poop shouldn't be that big of a deal if it's your own.

You clog the toilet, you unclog the toilet.

I have no sympathy for this kid.

Although, I would have handed the kid a plunger before having him stick his hand in there.
But that's mostly because I wouldn't want a kid with crap hands running around giving other kids pinkeye.


If it's cruel and unusual punishment for him to deal with his own crap, does that mean nursing home care workers, nurses, and plumbers are all horrible people doing what they deserve? That there's something wrong with them that they continue to do that job even though they aren't being punished?

Think a bit here......

It's not about whether it was the childs own waste or not.... it was a "PUBLIC" (in the sense that others use it) restroom

Humm sorry but a 4 year old is just that. Not old enough to understand what will happen if you clog up the toilet..

Just flush the damn thing or plunge it and get it over then talk to the child and help them understand what happens when you put too much paper in the toilet.. It is not rocket science..

It was the Teachers poor judgement on the actions she took.. If she has this type of judgement on how she thinks things should be done there is a possibility she may not need to be a teacher..

Teachers should Teach not have kids digging in the Toilet in their own waste... Sorry I would have been livid if a Teacher did this to one of my kids...

I don't care if it was a "private toilet"Feces is loaded with bacteria and well who knows when the toilet was cleaned and disinfected... This was a 4 year old not a teenager that would know not to use to much toilet paper.

I would be making someone pony up some cash for medical bills and I would be having my child definitely checked out.

I would make that teacher clean the public toilets
for a year.

Then ask her if it has changed her opinion at all
on toilet paper consumption.

Public school teachers aren't known for being the brightest turds in the punchbowl.

That's horrible! That teacher should be fired and sued. If you got a problem with poop and clogged toilets you shouldn't be teaching small children.

Someone should go toilet paper the teacher's house or car if no house.

The govt thinks our teachers should be allowed to treat and educate our children in ways that would find the parents behind bars with a label of "abuser"

The "system" has failed us and our children for decades. The oath of office for most politicians is simply a protocol to enter office and following that oath makes you a "fringe" candidate to be ignored or minimalized.

Just look at the attacks on our rights for proof of that.
